PSP X8 adjust> >preview>zoom>pan Window is off screen

Post by soupstock »

I just downloaded the PaintShopPro X8 version. When I go into Edit > Adjust > Brightness/Contrast (although it happens with other adjustments too), then click Preview to show the before and after images, then click on Zoom and try to Pan around the image to some area toward the top of the picture, I can't! The pan window/image is off the screen, so I'm limited to only the lower quarter of the picture.

I tried this in my old version PSP X4 and it works fine.

I have the organizer and Learning Center areas closed so I can get a bigger area for the picture.

Soupstock, it's my fault. I often would have the adjustment window in the upper right corner of my working area (to maximize image area) and when using an adjustment tool the pan window, in the position you show for X4, would be cut off on the right. This required a few more clicks to position correctly so I submitted a suggestion a long time ago that they modify the pan window so that it would appear always within the area of the tool window. The developers made changes which appeared in the SP1 issue of X8; however they screwed it up so that it is now worse than what they started with and totally useless. The day after SP1 was launched I submitted a bug asking for the blunder to be repaired and so that the pan window would look like this:
Suggestion for change of pan window location.
Suggestion for change of pan window location.
Hopefully they will get it right with the next version. In the meantime, adjust the view in the pan window by clicking and dragging in the left pane.

I can also verify the same bug when you click the Pan button on the Brightness / Contrast dialog box. The extra window is too large and shows half off screen top right as shown.

The bug is there for all interactive windows of this type. I think there is one process that generates the windows and is called on by all tools. Each tool then populates the window with wording and graphics. The preview section must be part of that common window process. Just guessing.

If you drag the dialog box to the lower left of the screen, you may obtain a better extra window.
The extra window is drawn up and right from the Pan button...
