Ken, you've certainly provided a dearth of information about your problem.Ken Veal wrote:How do I get rid of an image that always shows in the work space when I open PSPro
I am assuming that this image occurs in Edit mode. Is it one that you worked on at some time? Do you know where it is in your system?
It is possible that when you saved your workspace the box for saving the image was checked. Try saving your workspace again but make sure that the box is empty.

Re: Unwanted image on opening X7
The image is a jpeg picture and is located in my Pictures folder on my C: drive and I have not used it for months .Its diamension is 344x180 and size is 6Kb.When PSPro opens in the manage tab the image shows in the workspace, it also shows in the adjust and edit tabs.If I close the image then PSP and open up the prog again the image appears on the screen.
I cannot recall ever saving the workspace, anyway I closed the image, in the edit tab with an empty workspace went file-workspace-save- saved it with a new name in the save workspace box.Closed the prog. opened it and the image appeared again.

Ken:
In Manage mode, select a different directory and a different image. If you do some editing check in Organizer which directory is selected. The next time you open, that should still be the directory that is selected in PSP.
I use Collections (rather than Computer) in Manage mode. I have preferences set so that PSP opens in the last mode used so that if I closed it when I was in Edit mode, it opens again in Edit mode. If it opens in Edit mode, the directory last used is active in Organizer but no image is selected or shows in the workspace. If I open in Manage mode, the last used directory is active and the first picture in that directory is selected. I have not had PSP work differently than that. If you system does not work like this and you have preferences set the way you want, all I can suggest is that you reset PSP (press shift as you start it).

Re: Unwanted image on opening X7
I opened up PSP whilst pressing shift then it opened up with the image showing in the manage mode. But I have realised that the image in question is selected on the bottom left and I can change images by selecting others.Do I get the feeling that my problem lies here ?

Re: Unwanted image on opening X7
When you open Manage mode one image is selected by default. In my case it is the first, upper left image but that may be the result of the sort order I have set. If you then go to Edit mode the selected image opens in the Edit workspace. The only way to go from Manage mode to Edit mode without an image opening is to deselect the image that is highlighted in Manage mode. Do this by holding the Ctrl key while clicking on that image.Ken Veal wrote:I opened up PSP whilst pressing shift then it opened up with the image showing in the manage mode. But I have realised that the image in question is selected on the bottom left and I can change images by selecting others.Do I get the feeling that my problem lies here ?
I have no idea why Corel decided it was a good idea to auto select an image whenever you open a folder in Manage mode. Windows File Explorer doesn't work that way and there is no reason for the file explorer in Manage mode of PSP to do so IMHO.

Re: Unwanted image on opening X7
In preferences set your PSP to open in Edit mode first and then you should not get an image opening. You can always switch to Manage mode to choose an image to work with. My preference is to start up always in Edit mode (which was the only mode available in all earlier versions before Corel introduced Manage and Adjust modes in X4 and preliminary versions - Organiser and Express Lab in X3)

Re: Unwanted image on opening X7
My preference are set to open in Edit. The issue is when I want to go to Manage to actually manage my folders, not necessarily to open a particular image, at least at first. I would simply prefer that, as I select a folder, none of the images become automatically selected. Just a minor inconvenience, but I've never understood why it doesn't work in PSP the way it does in File Explorer in Windows.

Re: Unwanted image on opening X7
In preferences , I changed the default launch work space from manage to edit.On launch ,PSP opened up in edit with no image but when I moved to adjust and manage the image showed and kept showing when I moved back to edit.Same happened after a 2nd launch.

Re: Unwanted image on opening X7
Ken when you use Manage, or Adjust PSP will choose an image (usually the first image) from the organiser panel along the bottom or the top left image from the thumbnails . This is NORMAL behaviour.
I repeat if a folder is chosen to show in your organiser then an image will show . If you do not want an image to show set up a folder with no images in there and navigate to that folder with your organiser and thereafter unless you change that folder you will have no images showing.

If you left click the folder path bar at the top of the thumbnails, that will unselect any selected thumbnails.
