Re: Slideshow to CD ?
Hi Guys
Well I am not sure that is possible with the later versions of VS.
I just tried using a CD disc and the program showed an error with disc type.
Burning to CD requires SVCD format and that cannot be rendered using Video Studio. Cannot remember how far back we have to go to do this?
Kenneth
You may be best to burn a DVD Iso, then you can play using VCL Player on computer. Pass the ISO to the other people, maybe upload to a sharing site.

Re: Slideshow to CD ?
Whats a slideshow from any other video file?
Does VS can make "ppt" type of thing?
If you make a video file (up to 700MB) than you will have no problem to burn it to a CD

Re: Slideshow to CD ?
Yes - not sure why Trevor is saying it can't be done - I do it often
were you not asking about making slideshows back in October Ken - did you have any success then ?
just do whatever you did then to make the slide show but when going to Share choose to make an mpeg-2 video file
now look at the size of that file - if it is less than 700Mb then use Windows to burn that fie to a CD
if it is more than 700 you will have to use a DVD and again using Windows copy the mpeg file to the DVD
just think of a DVD as a CD with a lot more storage room

Re: Slideshow to CD ?
Hi
I was assuming Kenneth wished to make a video CD not a data CD.
If he wished to share the file as a data file then use a sharing site to upload and save a CD.

Re: Slideshow to CD ?
Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I think I need some more clarification here- can you oblige please.
1 “ Use windows to burn that file to a CD” Can I be advised, step by step- how this is done please
2
“I was assuming Kenneth wished to make a video CD not a data CD”
These options never crossed my mind-I just thought it would automatically be a video CD. Will windows allow me to burn a video CD? If not, and if it needs to be a data CD will this have any consequences re playback on a standard CD player ?
I realise that 700Mb is the deciding factor.
As far as I remember, you have helped me with the workflow etc re slideshows but I have not raised the issue of playing them on a CD before and have had no probs actually burning DVDs

Re: Slideshow to CD ?
What does the person who asked you for a CD want to do with it - are they expecting to put it in a CD player and play it - how will that work ?? - I don't know of any CD player that plays images - why specifically a CD
it needs to be a DVD player - even if it is a CD to view images - so why not just a DVD.

Re: Slideshow to CD ?
I have not, but will will ask why it was requested to be played on a CD.It may well be a slip of the keyboard or he is not aware of the difference between a CD and a DVD.Could be that the equipment to be used does not include a DVD player.Whatever, I will find out and all will be revealed by the end of the week.Re "I don't know of any CD player that plays images" - I have loads of CDs from Boots and the like that are full of images. There was an option when getting pictures developed to also have a CD with them on .These CDs play on my PC and hi fi blue ray player

Re: Slideshow to CD ?
Exactly Ken - play on your PC or blu-ray DVD player - not in CD players - if their using a DVD player (blu-ray or not) why do they want a CD
what CD player has video outputs - perhaps I've missed something

Re: Slideshow to CD ?
Well, I may not be on the same wavelength here and perhaps I am making assumptions on how the CD player was" wired up".But when I spoke about playing a CD player I was referring to how my hi fi CD player was set up in the past- and now, with newer gear. The output from the CD player was connected to the input of a Audio/Video amplifier which is connected to a TV.So images on the CD would show on the TV.With a CD you have to manually move on to the next image but a DVD will move on automatically.I can also play audio from discs/TV through the amp to get 5.1 channel sound.Images from the CD player on my PC also would show on the monitor.

Re: Slideshow to CD ?
Are you sure your hi-fi unit had a CD player - not a DVD player - meaning you cannot play DVD's with that hi-fi unit
in my book a CD player plays only sound from a CD disc
A DVD player plays sound and/or images from a CD or DVD disc.

Re: Slideshow to CD ?
So we are really back to the question - what is your friend expecting to do with the disc - because if all they want to do is put the disc in a DVD player and watch it on their TV then we can tell you how to put a slideshow on a DVD - but if they are expecting to access the pictures in some other way we will need to give you a different set of instructions.
and with regard to your question about burning discs in Windows - the following is from the Windows 7 help files which you will find on your computer
