Re: what is maximum videos per menu ?
Hi delboy
I think I misunderstood the term favourite menu, I guess that’s a reference to the template you used, ignore my earlier reply.
All discs when played will open showing the Title menu page.
1 / We can play “all” which starts playing the disc from beginning to end.
2 / We can select any Title…. that will play to end of that title then follow the Navigation Controls settings.
Options are….
3 / Return to Menu, allows us to choose another Title.
4 / Continue to play … plays all titles to end of disc.
5 / End of disc will either return to menu or repeat play, which would play disc forever.

Hi Delboy
Can you explain on what you mean by your “favourite menu”
You said you had 17 video files.
Creating a title menu will use all 17 with links, I assume you are using the text menu.
Are you now wanting to make another menu containing selected titles from the first menu.
You may wish to pick maybe 5 of those to show on a separate menu page, that is not possible.
You can create Chapter points for each Title, that would make a submenu for that Title.
Is that what you had in mind?

Re: what is maximum videos per menu ?
Yes you can do what you want to do - which I understand is a top menu with two choices - the first playing a video - and the second taking you to another menu offering sub choices.
if you have already put all your videos into the burn module they are showing as TITLES not chapters - titles will not work the way you want
You must first turn all the individual videos ( except the one you want to play from the menu ) into one long continuous video - put all the small videos in the main programme timeline and go to Share to make one long video
now open the create disc window again and delete everything from the small timeline in the burn module - then import the first video you want to play followed by the long one you just made and want to see as chapters .
click on the second one and up near the top left corner of the burn module click on "Add/edit Chapter" - a new window will open - go through it adding a chapter point at the beginning of every small video
When you have done click OK and you will go back to the first screen - note that under the preview screen a small drop down has become active and is probably showing 'Main Menu' - changing that will allow you to customise each chapter menu
using the preview function you should now see a top menu with two choices - click the first to see the first video - click the second to open the chapter menus
see how you get on with that.

Re: what is maximum videos per menu ?
One last problem has come up. I now have 2 menus working except when I go to the sub menu with the 17 videos there is a play button there. If I click that play button it is linked to the video on the main menu. I would expect it to play the first track on the list on that sub menu page.

Re: what is maximum videos per menu ?
The play button will always "play all" so if you click on it it should play the whole video from the first chapter to the last
If you don't like that arrangement you have two options
1) - don't click the play button
2) hide the play button while in the edit function of the menu set-up - then no one will be able to click on it
though be warned even with it hid if you press play on the remote control it will still play the whole video from the start.

wow that's harsh. It means the whole project has been a waste of time and it is back to the drawing board. It is natural that anyone going to the sub menu is going to press play. What a drag

Re: what is maximum videos per menu ?
Well unfortunately that's the way it is
although why anyone presented with a screen full of choices would automatically press play is beyond me - surely 99.9% of people would make a choice - what do those that press play expect to see - the first chapter ?? - that's what they do see
in any case surely anybody who pressed play without making a selection would not do it again

Exactly how do you want the menu to behave?

Re: what is maximum videos per menu ?
Simply to behave in the same way as Corel Videostudio MyDVD does which as far as I am concerned is standard behavior. When you go to a new menu, focus should go to the first item on that menu.
It is not logical that focus should go to a play button on a menu that links to a video that doesn't exist on that menu. I suppose the simple answer is there should be no play buttons on sub menus which is what happens on Corel MyDVD.

Re: what is maximum videos per menu ?
Well MyDVD may not have a play button on it's menu's - and you can remove the play button from the Videostudio sub menu - makes them the same
BUT - even in MyDVD pressing the 'play' button on the remote plays the videos - so Videostudio is identical to MyDVD

Re: what is maximum videos per menu ?
DVD Menus have to contain certain links, controls to run the disc, that’s part of the scripting of the ufo file.
Play all,
Title and Chapter links
Forward / back to navigate through menus.
All can be hidden but they are there.
Using the remote numerical keys should also select a title/chapter.
Using VS If you choose a menu template containing only 4 titles / thumbnails then the controls will be the same as MyDVD which defaults to 4 titles.
I asked earlier for your explanation of your favourites, I am still unsure what you are trying to achieve.
At first you asked for a 17 title menu, you now have that, what’s the problem in selecting any of the 17 titles ?

Hi - Trevor -
We KNOW what delboy means by favourites menu we sorted all that out - it is simply the menu he put in the 'favorites' folder - which you told him to do
we KNOW what delboy is trying to achieve - we have discussed it at length above
please read back - we are way beyond all that
The current problem is - - when delboy arrives at the 17 choice menu - even though the play button is removed from the menu - he is pressing "play" on the hardware remote control - which off course still 'plays all'
he has not explained why he is pressing play without making a choice or what he expects to happen when pressing play
do you know a way to disable the play button ON THE REMOTE CONTOLLER - the hardware one.

Re: what is maximum videos per menu ?
Hi Brian
I thought it was more complex than that, so we have two titles, the second title has chapter points applied.
At first I had thought Delboy wanted a Title menu with 17 titles, then a sub menu containing some of the titles, maybe 8 of them?
Clearly I have it wrong?
Unfortunately, Chapters are not affected by the navigation controls, selecting any of the 17 chapter will play to the end of disc, then return to Title menu. It will not play individual chapters.
As far as I know the controls have to be active, don’t use the play button, use the numbers and ok button, I think that should work.
When the disc first loads hitting play will play from beginning
I always thought that selecting a Title / Chapter and pressing play, played the selected item.
I do not think MyDVD has a return to menu option, once playing it plays to end of disc, I’ll have a look to see if there are navigation controls, but never seen them?
