So I upgraded X7 to X8 ultimate and the performance is so laggy that some features are barely usable. I sent a ticket yesterday to see if there is some way to maybe re-install without upgrading or some kind of fix, but they haven't replied back to me yet.
I'm on Windows 10, no antivirus running, and all drivers/Windows is up to date. Any suggestions beyond emptying the temp directory Corel's help FAQ suggested?

Re: Terrible performance upgrading from X7 to X8
While some people have reported some issues with the SP1 update, those issues do not include laggy performance. So if you are having noticeably laggy performance compared to X7 then I don't think most people can help because it is likely system specific. Other than a clean uninstall and re-install (perhaps also start by not letting the program automatically update to SP1, I can't think of any other suggestions at this time unfortunately.

Re: Terrible performance upgrading from X7 to X8
Perhaps check your task manager before opening PSP and then after to see what processes are running in the background.
By laggy a bit more detail would help. What mode are you in? Have you accepted the default installation settings ? What size images are you working with?
Most would recognise some slowness when using >5000 pixel x >5000 pixel images compared with 300 x300 pixel images and also with multiple layers compared with single layers. PSP has always been slow with these extremes of images.

Re: Terrible performance upgrading from X7 to X8
Hartpaul, everything is extremely slow to the point of being almost unuseable. Even menus are slow to respond, just doing File-> open drags for about 30 seconds before responding at all, and it seems to be all modes. Since it's not an issue I have with X7, I'm guessing it's something about the upgrade, but I don't have a way to re-install X8 without upgrading so I guess I'm just stuck here. The upgrade version was SP1 automatically so can't avoid the update either.
I was hoping Corel's support would have some option to do a straight X8 installation, but I can't even get them to reply.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions, but they all seem like things I've already done or can't do because of going the upgrade route. Since X7 is not the ultimate version, I might try wiping both out and seeing if I can install from the upgrade to X8 only (but that is still the SP1 version) and just refund it if that doesn't work. It's a shame since this is really souring me on Corel.

Re: Terrible performance upgrading from X7 to X8
So I just got an email back from Corel and they included a link to a straight install instead of going the X7 to X8 upgrade path and that appears to have been exactly what was needed.
