15 fps WMV looks jerky when previewed or exported (AT 15FPS)

Post by actuallyreadbooks »

I got VideoStudio Pro X8 for Christmas (box set), and this is my first time using it. I have installed all the updates on the Corel website (the 6 found here: http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/support/updates/).

I have a WMV video I took with a LogiTech webcam, directly to my laptop (a Dell running Windows 10). It's properties are in the screenshot attached, but the thing I think (note: I don't know a damn thing) is the problem is the frame rate, which is 15 fps. My reasoning is based on the issue I am seeing, which is that the video looks jerky/blurry when played in the preview window AND when exported--even though I have gone through the export options and found a way to export the video at 15 fps (Custom>AVI>15 fps). The video looks completely fine when I play the raw file from the LogiTech folder on my computer in VLC, and I am using VLC to watch the exported video as well. But any use of the program, including just importing the video file and then playing it in the preview window, creates this awful motion blur.

In the future, I am going to record at a higher frame rate, but I don't have the option to rerecording this. I have adjusted the Project Properties to be 15 fps, but that hasn't fixed it. I am exporting in NTSC, for uploading to YouTube. I am also losing my mind--though I doubt that is helpful information.

If I have to reedit this whole thing, I will do so. I will do whatever I need to to make it watchable, which is as low as I can set my standards for this project. I just am really hoping someone on here can tell me what I can do.

15fps is surely not as smooth as higher frame rates but you should be able to get this video to export from VS so it plays as good as the source video. Make sure to Export exactly as the source video; turn the Ask option in Preferences so the Project becomes like the video when it is inserted in the timeline. It is possible that the codecs in VS are no longer going to do 15fps video well; I don't know as I don't do 15fs video any more.

Post what you are doing to the video in VS: filters, transitions, etc. Perhaps try an experiment where you just have your source video only and Export it to see if that works before you do any edits.
