DVD WON'T RUN ALL CHAPTERS FROM MENU

Post by mwaponda »

Hi y'all

I am trying out the trial version and have just burnt my first DVD with 4 chapters. When I run the DVD on my machine (Samsubng P147) - only two of them run OK. The other two freeze and then the DVD jumps to the last of the two which are able to run.

Any one able to help me? Could I be missing a driver?

You have to make sure you have enough resources to reencode the software during the rendering stage. Make sure that MovieFactory is the only software running at the time. Disable any screen saver or anti-virus software running in the background.

You'll also have to consider the formats of the video clips that you used for the dvd project. Compression formats with high level compression like MPEG4 (DivX, XviD, MP4), WMV, RM, etc. will take a longer time to render and will use up more of your system resources so it is not advisable to work with them. The use of RAW AVI, MPEG1 (for VCD) and MPEG2 (for DVD) is recomended.

(1) I have made sure of everything - no screensaver, sufficient resources except that I leave it (Moviefactory) running overnight and have my anti-virus/ anti-spyware softwares (5 in total) scanning the PC at allocated times through the night.

(2) Is it also normal that the rendering/ burning with Moviefactory takes 8+ hrs for a 3.6 GB DVD?? This has rattled me......

(3) I am also beginning to suspect the brand of DVD I currently have - called "iPeople" - anyone have experience with this brand anywhere else?

Will try again and see if (1) works - especially that I am getting similar results i.e. problem when I also try it on my WINDVD Creator 2 software.

I set up a MF (3.0 SE) project file as a template that closely mimics the settings when I record. For example, I have a two hour configuration in WinTV that records around 4000-4800 kbps. It takes less than half an hour on my 1.4Ghz PC to burn the DVD. BEFORE I did that (thanks for all the help from the forum!) it took 12 hours to burn one DVD!
