VS ProX6 any way to limit menu play?
When I create a DVD and set the option to 'return to menu' after the title has completed, if the viewer doesn't make a selection within the 20 sec time frame, the sound file that is chosen plays repeatedly. Is there any way to specify that when the menu is entered that the sound is to be played only once?
and, if not, can this be accomplished in X8?

I don't think that is possible. Even commercial DVD do not have that option that I have ever seen on any DVD

no you cannot specify 'only once' but if when editing the menu you untick the 'Motion Menu' option the music will play for as long as the music file is
That is if you use a 15 minute long music file for your menu it will continue to play for 15 minutes - it is the motion menu option which causes the repeats.

Re: VS ProX6 any way to limit menu play?
Thank you Canuck .... now that I think of it, I too have never encountered a commercial menu that only played once.
Brian: I was totally unaware that removing the motion option, which I normally do most of the time anyway, I would be able to play a longer music file! That would really work for me because it removes the monotony of the shorter melody. Thank you for the great (undocumented?) suggestion!
BTW Brian, I noticed that you have posted the 'free' upgrade from X8 to X8.5. Does that upgrade preclude the necessity of applying the hot-fixes/service pacts et.al. to X8? or must that still be done prior to the upgrade?

Re: VS ProX6 any way to limit menu play?
Are you using X8 ? - your question is in relation to X6
but the X8 hotfix was released after the X8.5 update so I would not think it would be included
if you have X8 then you should apply the X8.5 upgrade then the hotfix - and then Service Pack 3
you can find all of those here - - http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/support/updates/
after all that "Help >> About" in X8 should show you version 18.6.0.6

Re: VS ProX6 any way to limit menu play?
Hi Brian
Regarding the music playing the entire file I have to disagree, it could however be a Windows issue and your installation could do this.
Can you double check.
When I deselect Motion Menu, yes the preview does play the sound in full, however when I burn a disc, test by burning an ISO, the sound is terminated at 20 seconds
I would dearly like the song to play in full, I had thought I had raised this with Corel

Well I have said in the past Trevor - my computer is a one off - does whatever I want it to - never mind anyone else
I have put an .iso up on my cloud and auto e-mailed you about it - 3 minutes 19 secs straight music

Re: VS ProX6 any way to limit menu play?
Thanks Brian
yes that is playing ok.
Time for another test, the last disc I burnt was about a week ago and the background music terminated at 30 seconds or so

Re: VS ProX6 any way to limit menu play?
Allen / Brian
Apologies for any confusion, from my tests it appears only Bluray and Avchd discs have the problem.
DVD discs play the sound file in full.
