Video Studio X8 Ultimate Not responding
Video Studio X8 Ultimate - Not reponding Crashing when On creation of a brand new project and selecting GRAPHICS the software freezes and then does not respond.
All other function operate ok including the following icons media, instant project, transition, title, filter and path. But as soon as I click onto GRAPHIC it freezes and videostudio goes to not responding. I have un-installed and re-installed. without any change. I have installed the lastest updates installed.
Strange thing is I thought I would investigate further to see if one of the template files or graphics file was causing the problem.
I renamed the samples directory to remove them on a temp basis so video studio couldn't find them. When the running up Video studio it said that Original file [C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X7\Samples\Video\SP-V02.mp4] doesn't exist......
Hang on a minute I've only just purchase Videostudio X8 Ultimate....why is it displaying an error for a directory videostudio pro X7....that doesn't even exists on my computer.
It seems to me Coral have just tried to re-bundle software and are selling it on as something new and updated but has a lot of mistakes!!!
I'm not impressed at all.
I need help as to why when selecting graphics videostudio just ends up not responding and then displays a windows error to that effect.
I have followed posts on re-installing but the same happens again.

Re: Video Studio X8 Ultimate Not responding
Go to this folder:
C:\Users\[replace with Windows user name]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\
and rename the 18.0 folder to 18.0OLD
and restart X8. These instructions are for the 64-bit version of X8. If you have the 32-bit version installed, remove the " (x64)" in the folder.
This may or may not fix it, but it's worth a try.

Re: Video Studio X8 Ultimate Not responding
Thank you for the reply.
Tried that one already without success!
I have been in contact with tech support at coral and they even asked me to run in compatibility mode for software that is suppose to run under windows 10....
.
Result....no luck either,
Think I'm going to have to ask for refund. I've only just purchase software and I think its a bit of a joke really.

Hi Steve
There was a recent issue with Flash and a windows update was rolled out over the last week or so
Can you check your Windows updates to make sure that has been applied

When you say everything ok you are referring to windows updates and still having problems with the program?
There appears to be another issue with X8 and WMV, at first I thought a Windows 7 32 bit problem.
I contacted Corel yesterday and waiting a reply.

Re: Video Studio X8 Ultimate Not responding
Yes.... I can confirm that all flash and windows updates have been applied.
Coral Support suggested it was something to do with my windows profile. They asked me to create a new user account on the computer and re-install the software again!!!
I did just that and exactly the same thing happened again.
Studio just ends up NOT RESPONDING if viewed under task manager and sits there if you select the GRAPHICS ICON on the main page. Its like its trying to do something but just never gets there.
Every other ICON is fine including effect, transition, title etc.
Very frustrating. Its defo something to do with videostudio

Oh and I have tried installing both version 32bit and 64bit independently with the same problem.

Re: Video Studio X8 Ultimate Not responding
Hi Steve
The program is having some issues but seem to be with Instant Projects, and some WMV errors show, but not for all users which makes it difficult to id?
not sure what Service Pack 3 affect has.
I think you are the first with this Graphics issues.
When you upgraded to Windows 10 did you check for graphics driver updates?
Did Corel ask for details of the Event Viewer
Can you view the Event Viewer immediately after the freeze, maybe it will indicate the type of problems / files being affected.?
And I assume you have installed the 64 bit program not 32 bit.
I only have issues using 32 bit.

Re: Video Studio X8 Ultimate Not responding
I just purchased VS Ultimate X8 a few days ago and my fresh installation has exactly the same problem as described by Steve. Have you found a solution to this problem?

Re: Video Studio X8 Ultimate Not responding
Thanks BrianCee for pointing out the other thread. However I have some doubt if that will solve my issue. I knew about the Windows Update braking Videostudio because my trial version of X8 was working fine until Windows auto update installed some changes on 2/9. At that time I saw the same symptom as described in that thread (VS not starting), and after some installing/uninstalling, I did the same action as suggested by the thread to use system restore to back out those updates and change Windows Update to manual (I am using Windows 7). From that point on I can continue to use VS X8 trial.
After trying application out, I liked it and went ahead to purchase VS X8 from Amazon. Then I started noticing this new "Not responding" issue after I installed the full version. In my case here VS starts just fine, and everything works OK except when you click on the "Graphic" tab. At that time the application will freeze for a period of time (like 30 secs to 1 min). If you click on other tabs, you can continue to work. But if you click on something in Graphic again, another cycle of waiting will kick in. As Steve pointed out above, Windows' Resource Manager will show "vstudio" as "not responding" in red.
Initially I thought this is an issue with the full version I got (version number is 18.0.0.181). So I uninstalled it and reinstalled the trial version I downloaded (version number is 18.0.1.26). To my surprise, the trial version actually exhibited the same issue. It was less noticeable (but the application still froze for a while) because trial version came with fewer graphic assets. I have tried out all patches (18.1.0.9, 18.5.0.23, 18.5.0.25, and 18.6.0.6) and all of them have the same issue. My desktop windows 7 PC box has all windows updates except for the ones I backed out from 2/9.
I decided to install the full version to my laptop to see if it has the same problem. The laptop is lagging behind the desktop on windows upadtes for about a month. Interesting enough, the laptop does not have any issue - not "VS not starting" nor Graphic tab freeze issue. This kind of pointing out something to do with the Windows Updates. My suspicion is that there are updates other than those mentioned in the other thread that are at play. It's a frustrating process!
I will still give the X8 hotfix2 a try when I get home today and how we go from there.
