Hi Jezzer
I can only assume that Video Studio does not like the iphone video format, probably the variable frame rate, if that is the case?
You may be best to convert the video to a more editable format, a free converter called Format Factory does a good job, take care when installing only to install Format Factory as it tries to install other bits.
If you can upload a sample to a sharing site One Drive etc. and I will try on my pc, but think I will have the same problems as I think you have tried everything…….

Re: Stutter at the start of every cut/transistion
Hi
Sorry for the misunderstanding, I thought it was the Mpeg4 videos.
You should not be having these problems with the Pal HDMV.
Once Show Messages has matched the project properties to the video file and Smart Proxy files have been created the clips should play ok on the timelines.
Are you able to upload a sample top a sharing site, One Drive , google drive etc.
I will try on my pc.
I have a Panasonic 900 series that records to 50P at 26000kbps, I don’t have problems, except the old pc needs Smart Proxy.
In fact the 25fps seems to need SP more that the 50P video????

Re: Stutter at the start of every cut/transistion
I will try to upload a sample file.
But what is odd is that when i play the video in videostudio so that clip is highlighted in the preview pane then it plays smooth,But if i highlight project in the preview then it becomes jerky in the preview pane. So to me its telling me something is not right in the project settings but what i dont know,If i enlarge the video preview and play my video in clip mode and then change to project mode you can see that the project mode quality goes down,But if i pause it while im in project mode then the quality goes back to how it should be but as soon as i press play then its lower quality,Correct me if im wrong but if my video was to large then playing it in clip mode would mean i would also get jerky playback? As turning on proxy doesn't do anything im guessing its not because of the file is to big.

Re: Stutter at the start of every cut/transistion
Hi Jezzer
The preview screen does not always show the full quality of the video file.
In some cases we can see a definite change in quality when starting and stopping playback, as though the pixels jump into focus.
I guess we get used to that but does not show on the finished video..
Go to F6 Preferences – Edit Tab and set to Resample Quality to Best, see if that improves playback.
The more edits we apply filling the other timelines may cause some playback problems, some FX filters can slow down playback
The playback of your files should be smooth, and any judders should not really interfere with your editing?
Are you sure Proxy Files have been created and that they are showing in Smart Proxy Manager – File Manager?

Re: Stutter at the start of every cut/transistion
Hello Lata
Well that might be the case then as im seeing what you are describing i can clearly see a change in quality when starting stopping,Quite right the pixels seems to come into focus when its paused,So this might be why im getting jerking movement on the preview.
I do have Quality set to best and i do see the proxy file in the file manager.
This jerking movement does not come out in the finished edit.

Re: Stutter at the start of every cut/transistion
Hi Jezzer
The quality change / jump when start / stop playing should not affect the smooth playback.
Adding FX filters, transitions, titles may affect playback as the timelines have to be all played together, unlike individual Clip playback, although not all effects are shown in clip playback
At least the final video is playing back ok…..

Re: Stutter at the start of every cut/transistion
Hi
Yes the final video comes out fine,But i just cant figure out why im not getting smooth playback because it happens when ive just put one clip into the timeline without adding any filters/transistions etc..
I guess i just have to put up with it.
Thanks

Hi Jezzer
Can you provide a sample so I can try on my pc.
Microsoft One Drive works well for sharing, Drop Box and Google drive are also good.
