Your Opinion Wanted: Sharing from AfterShot Pro
Hi Everyone,
I'm pleased to report that we are actively working on the new version of AfterShot. We've been watching this forum carefully and gathering ideas and feedback, and I'm keen at this point to gather feedback on some specific questions.
I'm interested right now in hearing your feedback about sharing to the Web with AfterShot. Where do you share the most? What social networks or cloud sharing/storage sites would be most beneficial to you? Any and all feedback welcome!
Sincerely
Greg

Whatever do you mean?
If you must then an Export to Facebook option might be useful for some.
But a fully implemented replacement for GradFilterPro would be on the TOP of most peoples wish list.

Re: Your Opinion Wanted: Sharing from AfterShot Pro
Greg, a share-to-the-Internet-option would be a nice addition.
When I worked with Lightroom I used the Smugmug-plugin, which is really nice: You're able to drag'n'drop images to your galleries in Smugmug and they are processed and uploaded immediately there. When you change some image-setting in LR, you can easily re-export using the plugin. Something familiar in ASP would be great!
But, please focus on image quality as a first hand priority (imho). ASP is, even with correct profiling/calibration far from able to compete with (e.g.) LR or Rawtherapee, a great open source programme when it comes to image quality! Sad, because ASP's workflow is really good.
I wish you the best of luck in this regard!

Agree, but I doubt that Corel is interested in improving IQ.johanthor wrote:But, please focus on image quality as a first hand priority

No, you have not! (... or if you have, you haven't been paying attention)Greg Wood wrote:We've been watching this forum carefully and gathering ideas and feedback...
Image Quality! That's really what it's all about right now.
Oh, and getting plugins updated.
As someone already mentioned: RawTherapee is far ahead of you ... and it's free!

Quite usable these days and a lot more responsive to users requests and observations than some we know.

Re: Your Opinion Wanted: Sharing from AfterShot Pro
The Darktable UI is still an unholy mess (as I've said before) and the latest "innovative" feature, scrollbars and what appears to be zoomlevel indicators on the window edge is quite frankly ridiculous.Hobgoblin wrote:And there is always Darktable http://www.darktable.org/2015/12/darkta ... -released/lundbech wrote: As someone already mentioned: RawTherapee is far ahead of you ... and it's free!

RawTherapee may not be an example of brilliant design, but at least you can work with that.

Re: Your Opinion Wanted: Sharing from AfterShot Pro
I am with Hobgoblin here.
I am not interested (shock horror!) in alternative linux products; as far as I am concerned the competition ATM would be DxO. The one thing that will keep me with ASP2 is to get the same plugin functionality as I had in B5 and early ASP, as well as the improvements in IQ to which Corel has been working and to which I trust they will continue to work.
I can't do without Graduated Filter. It is the one thing that really puts ASP on top of DxO. I tried to persuade Roger to update the plugin; I tried to persuade him to open-source it. Perhaps Corel has bought it off him? Now that would make an upgrade to ASP v3 a no brainer!

Re: Your Opinion Wanted: Sharing from AfterShot Pro
It would be good to access Flickr or Facebook although this is certainly not a priority with me.
As others have already mentioned, getting the best out of an image in ASP is the most important aspect.
I would like to see the return of an indicator telling us how long until images are exported, etc.
Plus, the plug-in functionality is very important as well.

Re: Your Opinion Wanted: Sharing from AfterShot Pro
Besides the obvious lack of a GradFilter or even better, a designated Grad Layer Selection Tool for the new version, as you mentioned, a web sharing function could come in handy.Greg Wood wrote:Hi Everyone,

It should be able to do the following:
1. Use the same type of settings that's available in the Batch Output Sections
2. On output, a screen with the selected images in a list where you can write a Title and a Description for each of the selected images. The Title/Description should be stored somewhere in the Metadata or in the sidecar file. This should be automatically included in each images entry/post when uploading to media like Facebook and others. No title/description in ASP, no title/description on Facebook. Optional for the user.
3. Possible to store and include signatures that's included in the image description on output (optional/per image).
4. Easy use of Presets. This should be easy to set globally on all selected images, and/or also be easy accessible for each image on the list/screen. For instance, a frame (zFrame) and watermark (zText) could be selected different for portrait and on landscape images. Also a light color for dark pictures and a different version/preset for light images and/or landscape/portrait images. For some a global setting for all selected images could be all they need, but for my use I like to have it optimized for light/dark and portrait/lanscape.
I mostly share images on Facebook, but I would also love to have ASP uploading images directly to the Media Library of a WordPress blog.
Hope to see the ASP update real soon. Preferrably with a Grad Layer Selection Tool, a return of the status bar, and correct image orientation on export...

Also the drag and drop functionality in the files system is important to me and the progress indicator.
These features are gone and they with the introduction of version 2.2

I'm not interested in such a feature. If I want to share, i export first and then upload. I really do not want the possibility to automatically publish on Facebook the wrong image...

Re: Your Opinion Wanted: Sharing from AfterShot Pro
Agreed. A Grad Layer Tool or similiar should have been higher on their priority list than social, but I guess Corel do see a marketing potential for ASP with social integrations. There is a rather looooong list of features and fixes this community has asked for. Much of our frustration has been due to the very limited development resources and slow progress for the program since Corel's aquisition of Bibble. This seems to be the golden rule for all softwares Corel has aquired through the years. Once they finally gain some momentum, Corel do however put more development resources into it. The ray of hope is that ASP can gain a bigger customer base, and by that be designated more resources for the development. More customers should equal a better software, and more resources into development. Better hope that this is the reason behind their current work with social integrations...binoyte wrote:There are many thing to correct before spoiling the UI with social *!*!*.

I also would highly advocate prioritizing image quality, plugin support, and speed improvements over any social integration. Exporting the photos to jpg or whatever format and using the website's own upload feature is not a problem for me - I would highly prefer effort be focused on improving the core functionality of the application first.lundbech wrote:No, you have not!
