avoiding loss of link

Post by Glenn in Chile »

Hi guys,

I've created a short project with links to short video clips on my hard drive. I subsequently modify the video clip on the hard drive, without changing the name of the clip, but I lose the link anyway in X8.5. Is there any way to make modifications to the hard drive files without losing the link in the project? The length of the clip on the hard drive stays the same.

Nope - any change at all to the file on your hard drive and Videostudio will lose track of it and you have to relink

it is not just the name which VS recognises the file by but every single piece of info such as location, date, length etc. --- -- at least we now longer suffer from the DST effect which we had up to version 7 which caused Videostudio to lose track of EVERY file on your computer at the start and end of Daylight Saving Time

The only answer is to not modify a file once you have added it to VS unless your prepared to relink - you could make a copy of the file and modify that leaving the original in situ if you want a modified video for something else
