VSX8 Instant Project-related crash

Still not working for me after applying the hotfix and rebooting. X8.5 fully updated still crashes when I either press the Instant Projects icon or try to open HTML 08 which contains an swf clip. That's interesting Ken, I don't have HTML08, what shows foe me is 02,03,04,06,09 &10 and 05 shows in the "Test"catorgory

Well I have only HTML 4, 8, 9 and 10 in the general category, and I don't even have a Test category. But then again, I haven't downloaded any templates from the Do More page since I don't use Instant Projects apart from experimental uses for this forum. So I am not particularly surprised...

But what *is* surprising is that the instant project hotfix is apparently working for some, but not for me...

I work with Windows 10 ;32 bit and VS X8 Ultimate

I (so far) have no problems with instant project crashing.

Particularly the one (HTML 08) I am currently using it in one of my projects and did not make my system hang or crash.

I have tested the following HTML 02;03;04;06;07;08;09;10; AND 05 included in the TEST category and none of them have crashed

All of the above HTML are listed in the Do More ;Templates

I am having this exact same problem with my Video Studio X8.5 including SP3 on my Win 10 64bit desktop. I even had the problem occurred both before and after applying SP3. However, no problems on my Win 10 64bit laptop.

I have installed Video Studio X8 Ultimate including the following setup/install files:
VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_1Main.exe
VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_13Bonus.exe
VideoStudioUltimateX8_2Contents.exe

When in the EDIT screen I try to open the INSTANT PROJECT icon and get error message: "Corel Video Studio has Stopped Working". Simultaneously, there is a progress bar labeled "Updating Template Database". I am forced to close the program. The template database is then unable to finish updating.
I installed Service Pack 3 but this did not solve the problem.

The error doesn't occur until after I install the VideoStudioUltimateX8_2Contents.exe file.

I applied the new uvswf.vio file but it did not solve the problem (VS X8 crashing when clicking on the Instant Project icon).

Corel have determined that the problem has been caused by the latest Flash Update in Windows 8 and 10
They have provided a hotfix which they say will solve the problem - please download the attached zip file and after unzipping you will have a .vio file which you should use to replace the matching file in C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8\vio
they recommend you do not overwrite the existing file but rename it uvswf-old.vio (just in case)

Welcome to the forums... and to my apparently small group for which the hotfix doesn't work!

Just FYI I get the progress bar for a while. And since the problem is evidently associated with swf flash files, the progress bar I think stops when it meets a template which contains a swf clip. And then I get the error message...

I was finally able to solve the problem, at least on my computer. I went into Settings > Library Manager > Reset Library. No more crashing! No error.

Unfortunately, this did not help. After rebooting libraries, Corel VideoStudio tries to update the database when you click the "Instant Project" button and then an error occurs and the program closes. After restarting Corel VideoStudio, again errors occur Instant Project.

Prior to resetting the library I replaced the uvswf.vio player with the new file in the hotfix as suggested earlier in this thread and then I downloaded and reinstalled Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Shockwave Player. I don't know whether those steps were necessary in order for the library reset to work.

It took some time and went through all the libraries, as expected, including the instant templates. Then I pressed the Instant Projects button, and again it went through the templates library. But this time it opened, with no error message.

So for me, as well as you, resetting the libraries seems to have done the trick! And I didn't have to reload the Adobe software...

AlexL03 -- did you give the resetting of the libraries time to complete itself fully, to the point where you get the message "The library has been reset" before pressing the Instant Projects button?

I uninstalled VSPX8.5 and everything with it using the Cleanup tool. I rebooted my PC then reinstalled. For the first three times I could not get Instant effects, it just shut down on me. I persevered and kept reoping VSPX8.5 ...... to my pleasant surprise, on the 4th time the template database was built and Instant Projects worked.
I thought it just maybe a fluke, but after closing and reoping several times, clicking Instant Effects it now works!!!. I did not add the hotfix only SP3. Installed Contents and Bonus then tried VSPX8.5 again. So far so good. For those who are having the same problem, just keep hitting Instant Projects until the programme gets the message.......

Detailed steps:

1 Replaced the file uvswf

2 Rebooted the computer

3 Rebooted the library, waited for the final message of this operation

4 Closed Corel VideoStudio

5 Started Corel VideoStudio

6 Clicked on the "Instant Project", and then started the database update

What happens if you try to re-link?

if you look at
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8\EditingStyle\InstantProject\T-01

Does the HTML 08_Object 01.swf file exist.
