VSX8 Instant Project-related crash

Hi, I have been working and updating successfully with VSX8 18.6.0.6 64 bit Ultimate up to December 28 2015. Today when I started the program in order to "share" my files to DVD, it crashed when loading one of the instant projects applied (T-03.VSP). After that, the availability of SP3 prompted, and I downloaded, installed and reset my PC.
I hopefully opened my project again, but the crash when loading the instant project applied keeps happening.
It is noteworthy that the crash occurs when clicking or loading ANY INSTANT PROJECT I HAVE USED, even long time ago, but NEVER WHEN CLICKING AN INSTANT PROJECT I NEVER USED.
It happens exactly the same when using VSX7.

I'm not sure if this is related, but I'm using Windows 10 and when I click on the Instant Projects button VS X8.6 crashes on me. Everything else I have used still works, but I cannot even click on the projects, but my other computer runs Windows 7 and there it is all fine. Have you tried the steps to rebuild the libraries? (it will clear any personal libraries too, so you want to back up.)

one other thing you could try would be to go to C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro [(x64)] and change the name of the 18.0 folder to 18.0_OLD. Then restart VS. This will rebuild the various libraries and will take a minute or two to complete. Then see if your transitions etc now appear. This is usually a more effective way of doing things than simply using the Library Reset option. And if it doesn't work, you can always delete the new 18.0 folder and revert to the OLD one by changing its name back to 18.0.

I thought VSX8 latest version is 8.5, not 8.6!

I too have the very same problem. I change the 18.0 folder to 18.0_OLD but when I opened VSPX8.5 ult, it began updating then the MS popup appeared that VSP had stopped working. All I could do is close the progamme. I click on the programme icon, VSP opened then I tried the Instant Projects and once again VSP stopped working.

I completely uninstalled VSPX8, with the clean tool, rebooted and reinstalled. The darn thing is still crashing. HELP!

I now have a programme that is not functioning correctly!

That 18.6.0.6 64 is really a build number and the 6 indicates that SP3 (recently released) has been added to X8.5. So try installing that SP and see if the problem persists.

I was prompted to install SP3 which I did immediately. However, it has not resolved the problem of the Instant Projects button crashing. It seems I've tried everything available with no solution. Do the Instant Projects work okay for you Ken?

Instant Projects work correctly for most users, it is only recently that some users are experiencing problems, I too have had the same error as you where the library stops building at Page5.VFX, but I just kept launching the program until it loaded, but I have never had an issue with the Instant Program Button crashing VS

I don't normally use Instant Projects, but just tested a variety of them chosen at random. I only found one which caused a crash and it was the first HTML one using .vsh as the extension (HTML 08). VS hung when it was opening the project and reached a flash .swf file. The other sample HTML projects opened without problem. So I suspect something has gone wrong since SP3 with the ability of VS to read this format of flash video.

Many have the same problem...

Rename the folder to "18" in "18_old" is a very bad idea. After that, Corel VideoStudio X8 completely stops working...

Hi, I´ve tried the renaming of 18 folder and the program opened generating the effects library again, but when I clicked the "instant project" icon, and it tried to load the related files it crashed just there, and I had to close the VSX8. For your reference, I tried the same with VSX7 (as I previously stated had the same issue) and the result was just crashing at the same point, loading new instant project library.

Please note that for me THE PROBLEM STARTED BEFORE SP3 PROMPTED TO BE INSTALLED. The prompt came up just after I opened VSX8, opened a project I built and rendered as mp4 on dec 28th 2015 (containing the instant project T-03), which I intended to burn as DVD but could not even open the project because VSX8 crashed when loading the inserted T-03 (M6 swf file). I closed the program, and the SP3 prompt showed.

Then I installed SP3 and nothing changed.

Thank you pals for your kind advice up to now, but the problem remains unsolved.

I support the idea that something went wrong with swf files...

Windows 10 is the common thread for around half of us with this libray build problem and the crash. I'm trying to progress the ticket i raised with Corel on Saturday 2nd.
I got a response from Juan, and replied to the e-mail, but so far no update.

Corel have determined that the problem has been caused by the latest Flash Update in Windows 8 and 10

They have provided a hotfix which they say will solve the problem - please download the attached zip file and after unzipping you will have a .vio file which you should use to replace the matching file in C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8\vio

they recommend you do not overwrite the existing file but rename it uvswf-old.vio (just in case)

Have you had problems with Instant Projects as it is supposed to be Windows 8 and 10 issues.?
Doesn’t appear to affect my Windows 7 CVSX8

Strangely No Trevor - all the Instant projects I have tried seem to work OK - no crashes - - yet !

Still not working for me after applying the hotfix and rebooting. X8.5 fully updated still crashes when I either press the Instant Projects icon or try to open HTML 08 which contains an swf clip. Applying the flash patch Ken linked above fixes my problem with instant-project button.
But I'm still having a hang on "(1%) Please wait OPEN4.VFX" if I use the "Library Manager/Reset Libraries...." menu - but everything else I tried so far works, so that is progress.
