Fit to screen issue overlay track not covering primary trk

Post by delaluz »

I have been using Videostudio X5 to edit multi camera performances for 3 years without an “overlay” issue. I bought a new Canon G30 and discovered a new problem with my latest project.
The problem is that after a finish each major segment of this project I generate a video file choosing “make video file same format as first file in project option”. When I view this file in Windows Media Player or VLC player the overlay clips do not completely cover the primary clip. There is a small sliver of the original clip on the right side of the screen. I chose the “fit to screen” option for each of the overlay clips. The only fix I found was for each overlay clip use the “fit to screen” option then enlarge the clip by pulling the corner slider then centering the clip.

Is there an easier way to fix this other than adjusting the size of each of the overlay clips?

By the way:
I used clips from a Panasonic FZ150 for my primary video track.
I used clips from the Canon G30 for my overlay 1 and overlay 2 tracks.
I used an mp3 audio file from a dedicated audio recorder for the audio
Both of these cameras shot H.264 upper field first 24 bit 1920x1080 AVCHD clips

I intend to create DVD's from multiple files that I generate so I'm not sure if this problem will show up in the DVD's. However, I may distribute each of the generated files so I would like to solve this problem.

Thanks!

Hi,
The only way we can help you is by uploading for us a short FZ150 clip and a short G30 clip.
That way we can try and test them on our systems.
