Project templates

Are there any good places to get started on creating your own project templates? I'm thinking of creating a split-screen type moving segments and overlay similar to the Dynasty intro series - wow just studying those 70's TV intros has really been like wow that is soo basic.
Like the Dynasty overlay : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVu01ShJ5qA . But I'm keen to template the Dallas intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mlvUWjBERc and allow people to customise as they go.

There was once a rumour of a template swap-shop, but to be honest, I'd like to know any tips on how to create the masks to achieve, is it possible to reverse engineer?

I am not sure that I understand where you see a problem

to make a project template you simply put together your own project using the numbered placenolders in place of actual videos - then use "File >> Export as project template"

Numbered placeholders can be found at -- C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9\EditingStyle\Image

perhaps the only problems may be the mastering of the various techniques such as split screen - moving overlays - cross fades etc. - if you can do that then making a project template is not at all difficult

you could start with one of the supplied projects and modifying that and then saving that as your own project template

I did suspect it was that simple, so when I export a "project" as a template I can just zip up and then share the file. The part I was missing was the "placeholders" trick because I'd not tinkered much with reverse-engineering one of the existing templates to figure that out. Gonna try share one this weekend.

Does anyone know what happened to the Corel initiative back in 2011 to have a shared or public library of templates?

you can download numerous extra templates from the 'Do More' section of the Corel guide within Videostudio

For a while we did have a smart project sharing site - called photovideolife but that seems to have vanished now and they are now selling templates which you can view and buy from - http://shop.learn.corel.com/collections ... printables

The templates sold on http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/products/add-ons/ are only compatible with X5 and X6.

I have most of the « free » templates that we used to be able to download from www.photovideolife.com. I could easily include them in a few posts. Would it be « legal » to share those templates ? What is the maximum size of a file I could download ?

I wasn't aware that instant projects where version specific - if they work in X5 and X6 then they should work in X7, X8 and X9 - they are only videostudio projects

If you are prepared to share the free ones then could you put them up on a sharing site - up in your one drive cloud for instance and provide a link for members to download.

I have 85 templates for a total of 898 Mo and could share all of them. The problem is that I that have no « cloud » whatsoever. I could send them all to you by e-mail. It would be faster and easier for me.

I forgot. I'm using VS Ultimate X8 and all those templates worked very well. It was the same with X5, X6.

thanks, good to know. 898Mb looks to much for 85. I counted mine now, total 213 but I don't think they "weigh" that much.

Well that would take quite a few e-mails to send that lot - and I don't particularly want them myself -- it was zaphodikus who was looking for more - if he's still interested he needs to contact you to make arrangements to transfer them

For myself, one mail should be enough.

If, as per your suggestion, I would put them in a « cloud », can I get informations / instructions as to : where, how, which cloud would be the best to create one. Since Corel is taking control of everything and PhotoVideoLife is no more available, it could be interesting for some people to get « free » stuff, simply like we can do with CyberLink.

Good morning Lata,

I have Windows 7, but not OneDrive on my computer (not even a smart phone). I have an Hotmail account and for what I've found I could download documents in OneDrive and then share them. I've tried something, but it asked me to insert adresses of contact with whom I want to share. Is it normal.

But my main concern is : Is OneDrive similar to « P2P » system, therefore anyone could get to my computer. Is OneDrive « very » safe ? If I create a Facebook account, is it possible to put those files on that site and would it be better ?

I'm willing to share those templates, but not share my computer.
