Hi

So why don’t I have problems

Earlier I installed 32 Bit version of the program.
Installed Main first, no problems running the program
Then installed Contents again no problems
The program auto showed SP3 to install which I did – no problems

Then completed installing Ultimate Bonus

Very strange why there are so many variables with this error?

Probably you have installed previous updates before SP3 ?

Hi Alex

No I only installed SP3 after installing the program.

I think that is because I have the original version of the program CVSX8.0, later purchases were CVSX8.5, I think.

What does your splash screen show when launching the program?
I see Video Studio X8

My program installation file is called VideoStudioUltimateX8_32bit_1Main.exe at 1,376,570 Kb

There has to be some difference?

I also have a CVS version X8 18.0. When you see the splash screen X8, after installation also immediately put SP3.

Corel have now told us that a new Windows update has apparently "cured" the problem with Flash caused by a previous update. However, it is not clear whether the new update is available for all operating systems, or limited to Win 10 and 8/8.1. You might want to check to see if there is now one available for your Win 7.

kd312429 - an update that supports the currency symbols for the Manat and Georgian lari

This error these updates can't fix.

I don't know what number it has since my computer does not detect it, even for Win 10. I have checked manually but nothing shows. And I have not had any Windows updates for at least five days. Hopefully someone else who can see this update can provide a number...

EDIT: The only one I can find via a Google search is for Windows 10 only: kb3133431 issued apparently on 5 January. The earlier Win 10 update which caused the problem in the first place, at least for Win 10 users, was kb3132372.

However, Adobe has said that its original update of 1 January was designed to work with Win XP, Vista and Win 7: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/re ... notes.html But this may be available as an update to Flash as opposed to being directly a Windows update. I don't know if this requires you to have ticked the box allowing for updates of associated programs, as well as Windows itself, in the Windows Update section of Control Panel.

The other thing you could try would be to go to the Adobe Flash Player Download Center www.adobe.com/go/getflash and get the latest version of the player relevant to your computer setup.

Just to report i tried the rebuild/reset library and it crashes on "(1%) Please wait... OPEN4.vfx"

now if i shutdown the program via task manager , then restart it. My transition libary is wrong , hence why in a previous post i mentioned about not being in alphabetical order.
after library reset
after library reset
Notice no option to display all ?

When i uninstall and follow the same steps as before then check my overlay library.
after reinstall
after reinstall
Now I see in my windows updates the following , does this mean i can reinstall without the updated uvswf.vio file ? I will wait to see what is reccomended.
flash update.JPG
many thanks for everyones help so far.

Corel told me last night (NZ time) that that Windows update would fix the problem without having to change the vio file. So you can go ahead and press the Instant Projects icon to see if that works since I see that Windows update has already been installed on your computer.

In my case, I had already changed the file and had gotten the Instant Project button to work (by resetting the Library) by the time I got this Corel advice, so I did not pursue it further.

I started from scratch again , all seems fine no need to apply patch file . Instant project works fine.

The only thing is I cannot seem to reset library ? It doesnt seem to crash but sits for a long time with "open4.vfx" . I had this issue before , should i wait for this to reset ? Last time i stopped the task via task manager I had to re-install as my libraries were all wrong?

Not sure if this is another issue not related to project crash ?

UPDATE: even if i rename the folder to 18.0_old (under user\app data\roaming\ulead )it still tries to "open4.vfx" and crashes ?

No that's another issue that Corel are still working on. They said they hope to have some sort of solution by tomorrow (Friday)... The only workaround at the moment is to let the program close, then on reopening it should work. Some people even apparently had to reopen a couple of times before it opened properly.

But I'm glad that otherwise you have Instant Projects working... finally!!

Hi

Anymore news on an update from Corel ? I saw in a similar thread that not installing updates and the program works without crashes ? Not sure about about when resetting the library ?

Best regards

Hi Andrew

I think it is causing a bit of a headache for Corel, so many variables with different windows versions and 64 bit or 32 bit programs, some users having different problems but all seems to stem from the service packs, at least that’s my opinion.

I can run 64 bit with no problems, 32 bit without SP3 is ok, with SP3 and it crashes.

Originally I thought it was only Windows 8 and 10 that had problems but W7 has also issues.

So no we have not heard of any updates from Corel, but I am sure they are taking this issue seriously.

You could of course try re-installing the program but not installing SP3, although that may be required to run the program on Windows 10.
As I say so many variables.

We will certainly keep you informed as soon as we hear anything.

Certainly X8.5 worked fine on Win 10 before SP3... at least it did for me!
