Audio from trimmed video is way out of sync

Post by GameyAlexPlays »

I recorded a 2 hour movies @ 1280x720 @ 30FPS using xsplit software. The video is around 2.1GB and works plays perfectly in VLC or Windows media player - so the source seems to be fine.

I wanted to trim the last 5 minutes off the video, but whenever Corel VideoStudio Ultimate x8 renders the video, the sound is around 20 seconds off.
I tried rendering it as mpeg-4 @1980, 1280, and 720. All of which have this same audio problem.

Has anyone else had this issue and does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks!

First off can you please right click your video in the timeline and copy all its Properties here. It might be a format which VS has difficulty with and might need conversion in a third party video converter to something video studio has less difficulty with.

By the way, have you in Preferences > General ticked the box beside 'Show message when inserting first video clip'? If not please do so and start a new project. Then insert your clip again. Do you get a message asking if you want Project Properties to match those of the clip? If so, say OK. Then you could try editing again and then go to Share and select Same As Project Settings. The out of sync problem should now be gone.

If not, the only other thing I can think of to try would be to ensure that Smart Render is turned off next time you try rendering. In the past this often resolved out of sync audio problems.

Attached is the properties screenshot.

I updated the preferences and when I dragged the video in I got the message that asks "Do you want to change the project settings to match the video's properties so VS can preform SmartRender?" I said "yes". Attached are the "details" that it showed to changes I guess it would make.

I tried it with SmartRender enabled (ticked on the "share" page).
I tried it with SmartRender disabled (unticked on the "share" page).

Neither worked :(

It's weird because I have edited xplit videos fine in other video software and it is never been a problem - so I don't things there is anything TOO weird about the xsplit source files.

Thanks!
