PaintShop Pro X8 Ultimate - Upgrade will not run

Post by mwm »

I purchased Paint Shop Pro X8 Ultimate upgrade today. Spent the early evening installing Paint Shop Pro X8 Ultimate - Upgrade in my office on Z77 i5, Windows 7 Pro 64 bit desktop. Got a "thank you for registering" response but the program ( 32 bit and 64 bit) will not run. When I try to open either 32 bit of 64 bit version, my CPU usage shoots up to ~25% utilization and stays there until reboot but I cannot ascertain what program is using the cpu to ~25% in the "Performance" tab of Windows Task Manager. Nothing "Corel" is showing in task manager at all but nothing else is consuming that much processor. Upon uninstalling, I did receive a message stating that "We're going to miss you". Two more installations did not change anything.

Out of frustration, later this evening I repeated installation on work shop i7, Z77 Windows 7 Pro 64 bit desktop. PSP won't run on that machine either. However, I do get a warning on the i7 that PSP has stopped working directly after I try to run the program (either 32 bit or 64 bit).

I've been using PSP since the Jasc days. I currently have X5, X6, X7, and as of today, X8 showing in Programs and Features on my i7 machine. I'm not new to PSP. This is the first time that PSP has ever failed to load.

Any help in getting X8 to load will be appreciated.

Thank you

Just FYI. I was experiencing save problems with a large file using PSP18 today. I updated to SP1 hoping it would address the problem. Instead when the program loads much of the control buttons do not appear. I removed the program & reinstalled (the new install has SP1) & the problem remains. I'm thinking SP1 may be buggy.

Hi, I've been running Paintshop Pro X8 ultimate in 64 and 32-bit versions for the past year or so. I upgraded to SP2 and the 64-bit version does not load while the 32-bit version does. I tried to re-install the software and the same problem occurs. The 64-bit versions does load with SP1 upgrade but does not with the SP2 upgrade. Anyone having the same problem. I have a DEll with i7 cpu. My other 64-bit programs run correctly.
Thanks,
