*SOLVED* VSX8 Not Starting for 1st time after install
Starting VSX8 for the 1st time after install hangs at the following message:
"(1%)Please wait...OPEN4.VFX" <- see attached file
Nothing else happens.
Note I installed the following files in their respective order:
1.) VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_1Main.exe
2.) VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_3Bonus.exe
3.) VideoStudioX8_2Contents.exe
Also note I just purchased and downloaded VSX8.5 Ultimate within the last 24 hours. PC specs exceed minimum requirements based on Corel published specifications.
Please advise.

Re: VSX8 Not Startting for 1st time after install
UPDATE:
I just killed my Corel VSX8 process in Win10 Pro's Task Manager and tried starting the application again.
Now a dialog appears (see attached image) alerting an important update is available for service pack 3.
Will download that now.

Re: VSX8 Not Startting for 1st time after install
Hi Marc
And welcome to the forums
When launching the program for the first time it imports many files to the program and displays that progress bar, I believe there may be two stages.
But it does take quite a while, and indeed long enough to cause a little concern.
The second start should be much quicker.
If you installed all three files without running the program then the time will be excessive.
Some find it best to install Main, then start the program
Then install Contents, and again restart the program, followed by the ultimate pack

Re: VSX8 Not Startting for 1st time after install
UPDATE:
VSX8 opened after I clicked on "Download update now!" but introduced a couple of smaller dialog boxes behind the main interface window.
Thanks for the tip, Lata. I hope this service pack update download that seems to be in the background does not require more than a couple of clicks to install.

Re: VSX8 Not Startting for 1st time after install
Hi
Yes you should install the SP3, as far as I know only this service pack is required.
No you should not have closed the process via Task Manager.
That may have terminated the installation of some of the files/ samples.
You may not have the full compliment of FX filters etc.
I would suggest resetting the program by deleting the 18.0 folder from here:-
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\18.0
Then restart VS, and be patient

slow down a little, the SP3 will now install on its own.

UPDATE:
Service Pack 3 and Hotfix installations complete (see attached screenshots) but wondering about the FX Filters. How can I audit them all to be sure?

Re: VSX8 Not Startting for 1st time after install
Hi Marc
Did the program automatically try to install the Hot Fix or did you download from the Corel site? Just interested!
The import you terminated for those VFX files were Transitions.
Go to the library and click the A/B icon, on the vertical icon list.
How many transitions do you see in the All category?
Then select the FX for Video Filters, again how many do you see, a screenshot would do.

Re: VSX8 Not Startting for 1st time after install
UPDATE:
The VSX8 Edit Interface does not appear to be refreshing each time I select a different category (ie, Media, Instant Project, Transitions, etc.). See attached screenshot.
I tried Enabling Hardware Acceleration Optimization in Preferences > Performance but no effect observed. The video seems to scrub just fine in real-time w/o any hangs, or glitches. Any ideas?

UPDATE:
I simply closed VSX8 and restarted it. Now the Edit Interface appears to be refreshing as expected.
RE: Transitions & FX inventory, see attached screenshots (below). Does it look like they're all installed?

Re: *SOLVED* VSX8 Not Starting for 1st time after install
Hi - sorry to pop in.
But, by coincidence I decided to install my xmas pressie today and well same issue: "(1%) Please wait... open4.vfx" stuck on 1%.
Windows 10 - and I'm suspecting its a folder security issue or other, since the post-installer is not doing anything. I had given it another 10 minutes and then killed the process since it just looked hung.
Edit
Starting it a second time partly sorts that bit out and the service pack downloader kicks in - I had to install the Service pack twice but now I'mfacing the same issue - half of the transitions are missing.
