Capture Problem VideoStudio 7 se Basic

Post by bgbrow »

I have a JVC GR-290 Camcorder. I first click on the file menu and go to Properties and set the Edit File Format to AVI Files like it shows in the tutorals. Next I turn on my Camera go to the Capture Settings Format and set it to AVI like it shows in the tutoral-BUT it returns to DV and won't stay in the AVI setting,is this going to be a problem for me? How do I work around this. I'm very new to the video making and all I want to do is copy my DV to DVD.

Thanks
Bill

DV is correct. It will store the video in an AVI file using the DV codec when you capture.

A different and potentially bigger problem is that you stated that you have Videostudio SE Basic. This version does not have DVD burning support. I suggest you purchase the upgrade to UVS 9 from Ulead, it is a far better program, and can obviously burn DVDs.

I have just tried 3 times to download a trial version of 9 and I keep getting the message (Codec Trial Activaction has a serious error) and won't start. I suppose I can buy the upgrade version. Thanks for the feedback. I thought I could burn a DVD with the version 7 that I had.
