cannot add tiny photos to library or timeline
I tried in both x7 and x8 to add very small photos (both .bmp and .png), only a few pixels large, but got the following error dialog every time: (attached). The photos are perfectly valid, and I can see and edit them in several different photo editors.

Re: cannot add tiny photos to library or timeline
"The photos are perfectly valid" valid for what?
VS is a video software and as such has it limits and rules, I'm able to import 25X15, 10X6 but not 5X3 bmp's.
As such tiny bmp's are looking crap as videos I don't see any reason why not resize them a bit till they will be imported to VS.

Re: cannot add tiny photos to library or timeline
Can you give us any idea of the exact dimensions of these very small images? Just remember a standard definition DVD-compatible mpeg-2 will be 720 x 480 (NTSC) or 720 x 576 pixels (PAL); and high def Blu-Ray either 1920 x 1080; 1440 x 1080; or 1280 x 720 pixels. If your entire image is "only a few pixels" that implies the H x W in pixels is going to be tiny in comparison to those measurements I have set out. In other words, a tiny image is going to be not tiny but miniscule when included in either a standard def or high def video...

Re: cannot add tiny photos to library or timeline
Thanks for your replies. Of course I am aware of what you said, but I'm not trying to use the photos stand alone. I was experimenting to see if I could use them in the overlay track to fix some blemishes, etc., that are beyond what the available fx's can do. I was hoping that the limits/sizes, which are undocumented as far as I know, might be known by somebody and made explicit. And of course it would be nice if the VS dialog message indicated the true problem. In the past I've taken snapshots, then one by one edited them in my photo editor, and then created what you would consider usable frames for the overlay track. But that can be very tedious if several frames are involved. Related to my question, which wasn't directly answered, is minimum size limit for anything in the overlay track. Is it possible to go smaller than what appears to be the limit squeezing the yellow "sizing" rectangle that appears in the preview window?

which question was that ? - I do not see a question in your first post
But there is no need to put small images in the overlay track just use decent size ones and make them smaller - why not just try it - hover over a corner yellow block and move it any way you want - you can make it extremely small - which is what most people would do
the image below shows a full size video in the overlay track shrunk very small in the screen
You could have answered that question yourself by experimentation - just remember everything you do inside Videostudio is virtual - you are not actually changing your originals - so if things don't work out just close Videostudio and all your originals will be ready to try again

Re: cannot add tiny photos to library or timeline
Hi
As far as I know there is no lower limit to the resolution of images used in Video Studio, not that’s been documented anyway
Like Asik I was able to insert a small image at 6 x 6 px was my limit, clearly would be extremely small given that the video size of 720 could be used.
However larger sizes can be resized making the image smaller
You did not give details of your image, the resolution in pixels, Ken did ask for those dimensions?
You seem to indicate trying to fix blemishes on the image, you are best in using an image editor to fix image problems, Maybe using a cloning tool would do the job, then import to VS.
