Buggy Free Trial A Refelction of Full Product?
Hi Everyone<
I am brand-spanking new to video editing. I just downloaded the free trial of Corel Video StudioX8. I was able to load up a video to the Fast Flick function but the finished product was AWFUL. The playback stuttered and pixelated...just flipping awful. I need to post auditions (I'm an actor) for work and this sub-standard video quality will not do. Is the stuttering and pixlating done on purpose in the free trial to prevent testers from using that video or is this a global problem with the full service product? I don't want to waste my money on a potentially bad product. I can't imagine that Corel would do that on purpose because who the heck would buy the product with such crappy resutls from the free trial? Thanks.

Previously all trial versions of Videostudio were full working copies of the programme - just time limited
but with X8 Corel took the decision to remove every thing which required a licence fee from them to any other software owner from the trial - leaving us with a severely crippled trial with significant drawbacks
Of course the full version does not produce stuttering or pixelated videos (provided you make the correct settings when rendering) and your problem with your video may be due to incorrect settings as much as it being a trial version
We are currently at version X8 (that is 18) and Videostudio would not have reached that stage and have the number of users that it does if it did not produce top quality videos
Rest assured that full versions of Videostudio will produce videos of the highest quality

Did you create a finished video file that stuttered in windows media player?
If so, what were the properties of the video and any other files going in to the project and what were the proprieties of the video file you created?
If you suffered stuttering etc whilst watching in VS itself, go to share and create a video file and watch it in WMP and let us know how it goes.

Thanks Guys,
Brian, that is a very good point.
Skier, I played back the video in the window that popped up that is , as far as I know, part of the Corel X8 Program. Also, when you say "properties" what do you mean. I'm using a Dell PC with Windows 7 and it's 64 bit. I'm not sure if that's important or not. I'm using Microsoft office 2013 if that's imporant. The video I imported was from my Blackberry phone (not the new one that runs on Android). My computor (outside of the Corel program) plays the cellphone video just fine, without any issues, I just can't edit so that's why I need a program like Corel.
Thanks,
Linda

Cellphone videos are tricky, they don't use standard video properties.
So they known to be trouble in any editing software.

If just a window "popped up" then that is unlikely to be part of Videostudio as that does not have a window which pops up - Videostudio plays in a preview window within the programme interface
When we ask for properties we want to know things like - frame size - frame rate - bit rate - etc. all the things that make up your video - and will determine what you need to do to view the video correctly
but it sounds as though you didn't actually do any thing to your video - just put it in and played it - is that correct ?

Place a video in the timeline and right click, choose properties, those details may help. You can take a screen shot of that panel, creating a Jpeg image to attach to your post.
I have to agree with Asik regarding phone videos being particularly troublesome to edit.
From the Share panel, at the top shows the option Same As Project Settings, change that to Same as First Video (hopefully that is available)
That should render using the same properties as original and should be as good as original.

Thanks Everyone!
BrainCee, yes you are correct. I just popped the video into the Corel program and played it, without doing any sort of editing.
The friend who uses this program gave me a tutorial on it and he couldn't figure out why it was choppy and buggy. I googled it and it appears that other people also have this issue with the full version of the program, not just the trial version. I made a mistake and thought I was using Windows 7 but I've actually got Windows 8. The video that goes through the program shows up choppy in the program window and then, when we copy it back to my desktop, it continues to be choppy in the Windows media player. I will try the other suggestions that you guys have given me and see if that works. My friend suggested..duh...that maybe it's my computer and my computor specs don't match what the program needs. I'll check that out too. All in all, except for the choppy playback, the program seems pretty easy to use, hope I can relsove this issue!

But you still haven't followed lata's request for the properties of the video. This could be highly important, as would information about your computer. That's why we ask for it during the registration process.

Re: Buggy Free Trial A Refelction of Full Product?
Thanks for the prompt Ken. Until the tutorial, I didn't know what a timeline was. Remember, brand-spanking new. I'm still feeling my way around a new trial program that, from what I have been told, is a gutted version of the full program. Perhaps, in the meantime, one of the readers would like to download the new trial program then upload-download-drag into..however that goes..a video and see if it's the trial program that is buggy or if the problem appears to be on my end.
I posted my last reply to acknowlege that I had read the posts and to let you all know that I was still in process. My bad, I'll do the doing and post the results. No more updates until the doing is done.

Re: Buggy Free Trial A Refelction of Full Product?
Hi Linda
If you are having trouble playing the video using other software, Windows Media Player then I doubt that it’s a Video Studio problem.
Either your pc is not upto the job or the video file is poor quality or corrupt.
I cannot install the trial version as my free TBYB has expired, when I did test the quality was ok with playback ok, but limitations of the trial stopped me burning a disc.
If you can upload a sample of the original video to a sharing site, One Drive , Google Drive, Dropbox for example we can try the file on our pc’s.
I suspect a poor / corrupt video, converting that to a more editable format may be the best option.
