Video Studio Pro X8 Frame Rate/Resolution Question
I have a video project that I'm making...I'm going to be utilizing video from a Phantom 3 Standard as well as a Cannon Vixia HF R600. I would record in 1080P 60 but the Phantom 3 can only do 30 frames. I was planning on using the Phantom 3 at 720P 60 and the Cannon at 1080P 60. How will this work when putting the footage together in Video Studio Pro X8? Should I set my video studio project to 720P 60? Both cameras can do 1080P 30...Would that be the best way to go instead of mixing the two resolutions? I'm a total newb here so any information is appreciate!

My preference would be 1080 30 on both, then edit using those preferences in VS.

Re: Video Studio Pro X8 Frame Rate/Resolution Question
It might also depend on what you are seeking to make with this project. If you propose burning a Blu-Ray disc, then definitely use 30 fps since the international Blu-Ray standard does not accept 60p where the frame size is 1920 x 1080, only 60i (or 30p). Ironically, the only 60p video acceptable for Blu-Ray is 1280 x 720p!

Re: Video Studio Pro X8 Frame Rate/Resolution Question
Thanks for the input...I'm going to be uploading this video to youtube...I was just wondering if you could could use 720p 60 and 1080p 60 then in VS set the project to 720P60...Can you do that or will it screw something up?
I'm leaning towards the 1080p 30 right now.

Re: Video Studio Pro X8 Frame Rate/Resolution Question
Hi
The video frame size (resolution) 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 does not matter that much both are 16:9 ratio,
Yes you can mix those in your projects.
Mixing frame rates may affect the quality, a 60P mixed with 30 fps and one has to change, set the project properties to 60 and the 30 video will have duplicate frames added, set project properties to 30 and the 60 will have frames removed.
For YT I would opt for the longest video, most used format, if that’s a 60p then use that for YT.
You Tube will probably recode the video after you uplaod
As mentioned by Ken if you burn a disc then generally 30fps is used.

Re: Video Studio Pro X8 Frame Rate/Resolution Question
Here is additional input for your consideration. Capturing the video is my focus: if you want to be able to capture rapid motion, then you want to capture 60fps. At 60fps you can use slow motion on portions of your project and it will be high quality. For sure you want to avoid going from 30fps to 60fps during editing, and in general going from 720p to 1080p will lower quality; going in the other direction will retain quality. Thus high frame rates and high resolution capture is best since it gives the most flexibility during editing and for getting the highest quality output.
