I purchased PSP 8X, 64-bit the other day. Installed it using the standard installation parameters. PSP X8 64 bit, started and ran perfectly. I looked around a bit, change the directory location so that it would look at my files, and viewed a few files. I close the 64-bit version out and loaded the 32-bit version to make sure it ran properly. It did. Closed out the 32-bit version and reopen the 64-bit version. Opening screen came up, Then the main screen, And then immediately closed. I reopened the 32-bit version, it ran fine. No problem. Using the shift key, I reopened the 64-bit version, Setting the program parameters back to default. It reopened without a problem. But I lost my settings to my files. Without changing anything I closed it out, and reopened it normally. It ran fine. After changing my directory settings, the 64-bit version will no longer open. I also found that changing some of the Program Options, also causes the same problem. What is going on.
Note: I have been using various versions of paint shop Pro for many years without a problem. I recently purchased a new Pentax K3, and decided to update my software so I can properly edit the raw files. All previous versions ran without a problem. also: my computer is fully updated, and running fine without a problem. all other software runs properly without problems.

Re: cannot restart PSP X8, 64, after changing Program parame
At the moment the only thought that comes to mind is that there is some strange thing wrong with the installation, and either a program reset or complete uninstall (using the clean uninstall in the sticky near the op of this forum) and reinstall might fix it. One piece of info you could clarify is if, when opening the 32 bit version, you made the same changes to it that you did to the 64 bit version and if it still worked when closed and opened with those changes.

Re: cannot restart PSP X8, 64, after changing Program parame
When opening the 32-bit version, I did the same thing I did with the 64-bit version. The program had already navigated to my photos. So I opened a file or two just to make sure that the program seem to be working. No other changes were made at that time.JoeB wrote:At the moment the only thought that comes to mind is that there is some strange thing wrong with the installation, and either a program reset or complete uninstall (using the clean uninstall in the sticky near the op of this forum) and reinstall might fix it. Thank you for your response.
I will try to use the clean uninstall program that you mentioned, and see if that helps.

Re: cannot restart PSP X8, 64, after changing Program parame
I use the clean uninstall program as mentioned above. It did not help. In fact I am now getting a error when installing, Error number "1303". It hangs up at about 56%, and tells me that it cannot access the Corel PaintShop Pro X8 (64-bit) folder. I am logged on as administrator. I even tried running as administrator, Without any change.
However I was able to install the program on is different drive. Although the same problem still persists. All I have to do to create this problem is click on the drive letter "C". After that, the 64-bit version will not run. as I said I have had no problems with my computer, and all other programs are working perfectly. I have recently run a virus scan on my computer, So I am pretty sure that is not the problem.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
