Opening multi-page pdf

Re: Opening multi-page pdf
I have tried with several PDFs and both X7 & X8 will only open the first page.
Jasc PSP 9 will open them as seperate files, GIMP will open as one file with a layer for each page.

Re: Opening multi-page pdf
Just found out that some PDFs will open in X8 but not all of the pages. I'm using the 64bit version in windows 10. For some reason the 32bit version isn't working now. Someone suggested that the 32bit version works OK.
To reinstall it it appears that I have to uninstall it first. May have to leave things for another day.

Re: Opening multi-page pdf
I have just finished uninstall & re-install of X7 and can confirm that the 32bit version imports multi-page PDFs as separate files.
The 64bit version does not. Tried all the settings I can find to no avail. This therefore must be a bug surely?

Re: Opening multi-page pdf
That's what I'd call it, although Corel says it's just a "limitation" of the 64-bit version of PSP. Why it would have to have that limitation is beyond me.NormanF wrote:I have just finished uninstall & re-install of X7 and can confirm that the 32bit version imports multi-page PDFs as separate files.

Using X9 PSP and trying to open a UK Local Government two page Voting Registration form and the 64 bit version only opens the first page (cover letter) but the 32 bit version opens both pages (letter and form).
This looks like it has been a problem for some time, why is there no resolution?

@gluepack
This is no problem but program works as intended. The module for opening a multi-page PDF is only available in the 32bit version.

Is there some reason the module can't be tweaked to a 64 bit version?Simone Corel UK wrote:@gluepack

Re: Opening multi-page pdf
Maybe it costs money or maybe it's not possible. I'm more involved in graphic matters and when ever I have to open multi-page PDFs in Illustrator, I wonder why Illustrator can't do what CorelDRAW does for ages.Is there some reason the module can't be tweaked to a 64 bit version?
It's how it is.

Re: Opening multi-page pdf
Simone, I don't agree that 32-bit vs 64-bit is in any way similar to CorelDraw doing things that Illustrator doesn't. Those are two software packages by two different companies with different priorities that need to directly compete with each other. This is one program with two versions of itself....that now compete with itself. It is very reasonable that some things don't directly transfer, especially if it's a licensed module and not something the developers have direct control over, but it's still not the same.
And if 64-bit truly doesn't support multi-page PDFs I would expect a note about it on the website. (Multi-page 32-bit only) just something small like that. A little acknowledgement. Otherwise it looks like it's a hidden bug. I mean the file formats page already says that file formats with an "*" are 32-bit only. So it's not like this is unwarranted.
By the way, 64-bit can open multi-page PDFs, just a very small number of them. And I don't know what the difference is. I have one PDF that looks like a scanned copy of an old 1960s magazine article, but you can select the text in it so it's clearly not just a bitmap image in PDF format. It's made compatible with PDF version 1.8. And has no bookmarks or anything of that nature to it. It's a very simple PDF. and the 64-bit version of X9 opens this PDF without any issues at all.
So far it's the only multi-page PDF I've been able to open in X9 64-bit. So 64-bit does have multi-page capability but apparently something causes it to break on almost every other multi-page PDF. What's even more interesting is that the 32-bit version cannot read this article at all. Not only does it only open 1 image, but that image is completely blank. At least with the 64-bit version it opens the first page properly.
I have a script that can import multi-page PDFs into a single image....but it's hard to setup the first time and not that great to use.

Re: Opening multi-page pdf
Hello LeviFiction
We had escalated the PDF limitation back then learned that it would be purpose.
PSP 32 and 64 bit are not 2 different versions, but one program like Photoshop. I use Photoshop also only as 32bit application, because there are many things not working in the 64 bit part. I take what works for me.

Re: Opening multi-page pdf
Simone, I'm fully aware that the 32-bit and 64-bit are the same program. That was in fact my point.

Re: Opening multi-page pdf
I remember that, it was some sort of an issue as well as it was pretty short of time. It was sorted out by the community quite fast yet to me that issue got all the pdf files I tired corrupted afterwards. The very thing I found helpful was to upload those documents into every pdf editing tool you have, I used this one edit-pdf.pdffiller.com and then to save them as new ones. For some reason it did a thing. Have tried that yet with this app only but sure it will work as well with Adobe Acrobat and other tools if you have one
Re: Opening multi-page pdf
I just saw this thread and tried it on my own PSP versions. The 32-bit X4 version opened a 2-page PDF as two pages, one window for each page. The 64-bit 2018 version only opened the first page of the same file, but prompted me to tell me that it was a 2-page file prior to opening it.
