NewBlue Paint Effects for Windows - activation issue

After uninstalling VS Ultimate X8 from my old computer, I have installed it on my new desktop. This product tells me that I have already installed it the maximum number of times and will not activate. It says to call support but which support? Corel or NewBlue?

New Blue Paint Effects does not come preinstalled with VS8, so you must have a purchased copy which you are trying to install into VSX8. I have had most New Blue Packages for years and have never had an instance where a max. number of installation times has been exceeded. The New Blue installer allows the product to be installed into multiple products and as I have 3 NLE's I hate to think how many times it has been necessary to reinstall New Blue, certainly more than 50.
You will need to contact New Blue as the issue is for them to resolve, it could be that your New Blue installer needs updating, I have had that situation before and New Blue are very quick to respond.

NewBlue support has since reset things and I was able to do a clean install and registration. NewBlue resolved the issue and responded within a few hours. Awesome support considering their product was "bundled" with VS.

Actually, when I purchased I received download links for VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_1Main, VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_3Bonus, VideoStudioX8_2Contents, and NewBluePaintEffectsForWindowsCSetup30. And, in the Program Files (x86)\NewBlue folder there are folders for Ulead and Ulead64. It is also listed as Item Number 2 on my invoice with Unit Price "free!" electronic delivery. I suspect that it contains the NewBlue products that do come with VideoStudio X8 Ultimate.

Yet clearly you seem to have received it as part of a package with VS, so I can only assume it was a special offer -- though I, and I suspect others here -- never saw such an offer, and we all get regular adverts from Corel! Since NB have serviced it, then they too clearly believe it is legitimate. So all I can say is: lucky you!

I'm thinking it was just the wrapper for all the other NewBlue stuff that does come with it. I actually haven't used it yet. It was moving between computers that the problem reared it's head. Now that everything is installed and functional, I can finally see what effects are in there and what they can do for me, or, what I can do with them...

I don't think so. For the rest of us, the Ultimate NB effects are all in that VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_3Bonus file you listed. NB PaintEffects is a distinctly labelled NewBlue products separate from those supplied normally with VS Ultimate. These are NB Video Essentials packs 1, 2, 4 and 5; NB Motion Effects; NB Sampler Effects; NB ColorFast; and NB Titler EX.
