how do I draw custom motion path in VideoStudio X7?

Post by Roddey_Phipps »

I've been watching the tutorials about motion tracking and it seems like I have to put a clip on the timeline and then set a point to record.

I've got a situation where I cant do that. I've got these big squares with text in them and the client wants them to swoop down, arch over, and generally fly around in any direction he wants them to go in.

Is there a way I can draw a path for the square to follow?

Any help would be appreciated

I do not know any way to draw the path first - if there is someone who knows I'm sure they will tell us

but there is no need for a path first - put one of the squares in the top video track - right click and choose "Customise Motion" (not Track Motion)

In the new window which opens you can add keyframes along the timeline (as many as you want) and then set the position. size, orientation etc. of the block at each and every keyframe so that you make the block move exactly as you want to.

if you are wanting to use the path you just made repeatedly then there is a 'Save to' button in the centre of the bottom of the customise motion window which will save the path you have just created to the path library for future use

I figured it out... it was simple once I saw it.

Put keyframes down and then drag the line between the keyframes in the edit window. they will turn into curves.

Its difficult to get them to turn without a shutter or blink, the angle of curve has to be exact before one keyframe and immediately after the keyframe - handles on the keyframe block like in Adobe Illustrator would be a huge improvement.

Its best really for setting up a single curve, between two keyframes and not trying anything complicated.
