I have just uninstalled PSP X8 in order to remove service pack 1 in order to get rid of the advertising. Sigh. Apart from that, I seem to have encountered issues with undo since installing the service pack but I am not sure about this. It might just be my imagination. Has anyone else experienced odd behavior with undo?

My understanding is that the installer you saved in the first place was linked to the pre sp1 version, the new version is installed regardless of which installer you click on.

Nope! I downloaded and saved the full pre-SP1 installer at purchase time. I've checked the version number, and it's the right one. Only trouble I'm having now is I keep getting prompted to install the update, but I can live with that.

gbotes have you turned off messages and auto-update search? If so you also need to delete the Messages folder. Any messages that have already been downloaded will continue to pop up otherwise.

My biggest annoyance is the "Corel Update helper" that pops up when PSP isn't even open. That's just annoying.

Extremely annoying!! I finally disabled it after I found out it's called PUA.exe. I was going crazy looking for Corel Update Helper in my Task Manager.

In the Win 10 Task Manager, under Start Up, it is more helpfully labelled "Corel Update Helper" which makes it easier to identify.

I posted what they originally sent here (http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 15#p318507)

I have emailed them more information and more screen shots of the problem and they have not replied...not really happy with the complete lack of response.

Seems to me they knowingly released a buggy service pack.

Before I started the reinstall I took a couple more screen shots showing how SP1 on my system causes the software to be unusable...note all the missing small text in each screen even the splash screen. And after reinstall it works just fine without SP1 installed. Hope they get this fixed and soon.

Hi Pathfinder, I just noticed the "text missing" issue you met is quite odd. I gave a quick trying in my home system (WIN7 EN Pro 64bit) but cannot duplicate the same result as yours. Before our customer support can provide more assistance for you, I would like to have more input from you to see if anything I can help.

1. Have you tried to "RESET" PSPX8.1? Holding "Shift" key and double-click the PSPX8 shortcut reset the overall setting (Attention: it will reset workspace). Can it fix the text missing issue?
2. What resolution you setup on your screen?
3. Have you turned off "Aero Glass"?
4. Here is the PSPX8 Cleanup tool. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/613 ... p_v1.0.zip . Use it to uninstall your PSPX8 from your system then reinstall PSPX8 and SP1 again.

Please take your time to check and reply above four questions or suggestions and let us know if one of them can help you. Thank you in advance.

Cheers

1. Yes as instructed I have tried to reset PSP this is what I get with SP1 loaded
Capture 2.JPG
2: 1680 x 1056

3. No I have not turned off Aero Glass...PSP worked fine and works fine until SP1 is loaded (I may try this but it seems ridiculous that this might even be a proposed solution)

4: Yes have used the clean up tool ALL is fine until SP1 is loaded

Notice by looking at the posts I am not the only one having this problem with SP1

Ah, thanks for that reminder, LeviFiction! Yeah, I often wonder how it is that that software companies come up with these annoyances, and think the users will be happy about it. But then again, this problem often arises when the developers are not also users of the application, and marketing and the need for profit are important for companies. Quite a big update it was, too, and yet has provided little of benefit for me. Anyway, lesson learned - I will not be installing any more updates until I can make a better assessment of the gains to be had. :D

Hi Bobby, good to talk with you here. I'm wondering what Perfectly Clear Plugin you got for installing. Where you get the plugin? From PSPX8 or PSPX6? If you tried to apply the Perfectly Clear version that bundled with PSPX6 and make it work with PSPX8, it might introduce unexpected problem since the Perfectly Clear bundled with PSPX6 is old. Also, we work a mechanism to ensure the vision is only workable with PSPX6.

If the plugin you ran is bundled with PSPX8 Ultimate, then please try to reinstall it again for seeing if you can reproduce it.

Cheers

Hi josephlin
The plugin came on disc from X6 ultimate and worked faultlessly with X8 causing no problems......until the update!
I managed to go back to x8 pre sp1 and it worked fine again....until I stupidly allowed it to update again, and since then I cannot get the old pre sp1 version from my original installer.
To me this indicates the "mechanism" only applies to x8 when sp1 is applied.
Athentech supplied a V1 trial copy which although "old" worked with X8 SP1

Hi Karebai, we are sorry to hear so many issues that you met after updating SP1. It should not happen as it is and we are expecting to figure them up with you together ASAP. If you do not mind, would you mind to describe each issue you mentioned in detail? Like "reproduce step", "reproduce rate"...etc. Current description you wrote in the forum is too rough and we cannot duplicate them from our side correctly. If you can take your time to share more information with us, it will be great!!
Thank you Joseph, I hope so - as this is happening on my laptop here are some system, specs -
Windows 10 Professional (x64) (build 10586)
HP 650 Notebook PC
2.50 gig Intel Core i3-3120M
Hewlett-Packard 1858 65.33
498.73 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 [Display adapter]
Generic PnP Monitor (15.3"vis)
PSP X8 18.1.0.67 (32 & 64 bit versions installed)

Workspace - original setup was
1. open in edit mode
2. workspace colour medium grey
3. background colour dark grey

After service pack install
1. opened in manage mode
2. workspace colour dark grey
3. background colour black

Feathering issue -
Load image, removed background (with eraser tool), saving periodically as I worked. When I finshed removing background
- select magic wand - settings replace,colour, tolerance = 20, contiguous checked, feather 2
then I select the areas for feathering, holding shift key to multi select areas.
hit delete key 2,3,4,5,6, times ... nothing happens - no feathering
(When I do exactly the same actions in X5 on my desktop, feathering occurs as it has done in every version of PSP that I have had since ver 7.

File tree movement is hard to capture as it changes as I mouse over the options. I have tried and these are what I got
menu1.png
this is when I use the "File" menu
menu2.png
whenI use the mouse to try to select Preferences or Workspace, the menu changes, the option names "move" from preferences to workspace, and the exit option half appears instead of the "down" arrow.
Thank you for sharing these information.

1. In term of workspace setting has been reset after SP1 installed, it's an issue and we can reproduce here. We will follow up with it.
2. Feathering issue, we will take chance to have more testings.
3. About the file menu movement issue, we cannot reproduce it here. See below snapshot, have you found an "arrow" to show up at the bottom of list? When your mouse cursor moves to the arrow, the list will scroll down. Please confirm it.
movement.png

Hi Joseph,

Yes I get the arrow, but as soon as I mouse over to scroll down the menu changes as I described - the options change from preferences to workspace, the arrow (meaning there are more options below), disappears and Exit option is only partially visible.

So I wasted a bunch more time on this again tonight

1) Used the removal tool and removed PSP, reinstalled original version from purchase (works great) allowed SP1 to install and same result program unusable (missing menu text)

2) Used the removal tool and removed PSP, downloaded trial version, program unusable (missing menu text)

3) Removed PSP and Aftershot Pro and tried another installation of current version, program unusable (missing menu text)

4) Changed Screen Resolution, program unusable (missing menu text)

5) Turned off Aero Glass, program unusable (missing menu text)

Enough time wasted, tech support does not respond, seems like I am on my own to figure this out.

WORKED FINE until SP1
