If I recall correctly that includes some stuff to do with Beautify. You need to be able to install the version that came free with PSP, not the one from their site.
Correct...which is what I did in the first place successfully into X8. The recent update has caused the conflict which stops X8 responding when it is activated.
My solution is now to reinstall my original Perfectly Clear into X6 and use that when required leaving X8 as is..

I'm experiencing the same problem with SP1 installed. Removed program & reinstalled from website (which includes SP1 I think) & still have problem.

**Update 1/2/15** I found that I could open the 32 bit version just fine with the last file I was working on. For now the problems of no menu display appears to be limited to the 64 bit version.

Athentech also provided me with a link to their first version (v1.7.4) to try. This also worked flawlessly with X8 but again is a trial and as the version we have was bundled requiring no unlock code, the only option is to purchase V2. currently on offer at £89 ($131). To be honest it is a great plugin but a heavy outlay for my small usage

So far I've not had any serious issues with X8 SP1. I don't enjoy all the "advertising" in the application since the update. It leaves me feeling like I'm using shareware, and generally annoys me.

Having said that, I don't find much usefulness in SP1. It doesn't seem to add very much, and if it fixes anything, perhaps it is things I wasn't really using. I'm considering uninstalling and reverting to plain old X8 just to get rid of the ads.

If you click on the little arrow top right of the ad panel, it closes, at least down to just a text 'do more with brushes!

I just got service pack 1 last night. Not too happy! It removed all my custom toolbar buttons, palettes, and arrangements. It changed my workspace setup adding back in the redundant organizer, and learning center.

AND, it still has not fixed the "File Save" == "File Save As" bug.

AND, the adjustment layer (Hue-Saturation, Vibrancy, etc. ) dialog screens still fill up the full screen with the submit buttons hidden below the bottom - need to scroll down to see them.

The Service Pack 1 doesn't retain the totality of the workspace saved with X8.0 but other settings are maintained.
The "Save as" feature is not a bug, IMHO. It appears only when saving jpeg files (not png, tiff,...) and only the first time, if I'm right.
On my system (Windows 10, PSP X8.1 64bit), the dialog screen of the adjusment layer has normal dimensions (as previous)...

PSP X8 SP1 64 bit on Win 7.1pro 64 bit.
Opens up a web page on RAW so most annoying.

@Kathy_9, maybe I'm just being a sourpuss, but on the learning centre panel thingy which displays on startup (which I don't mind, and which can be turned off but which I find useful at the moment) there is a "Get More" tab that displays an ad for plugins, and so on. It would bother me less if it linked to a web page rather than displaying right there on screen. Also, it doesn't detect plugins and applications I have already purchased, which annoys me too, because it creates a feeling that the application is unpolished, considering that it should be a simple thing to create registry settings for installed apps and plugins which the application could detect easily. When importing RAW images via Camera RAW Lab, there is an ad on screen for AfterShot Pro! I have AfterShot installed as I have X8 Ultimate! On the Effects menu, there is also a "Get More Plugins" option which again opens the same ad panel on screen. If these "ads" (I don't know what else to call them" are to remain part of the application, then at least all purchased and installed applications and plugins should be detected so that the advertising can be useful and informative.

But I do like the options on the Help menu which link to the web, and I do like the product messages and message settings which are useful and informative. I just feel this marketing doesn't have a place right in a purchased application.

(I have had bad experiences in the past with patches/updates). Upon checking my system I have found the Corel Update Helper installed .... I did not give permission for this !!!.

So, now with the "update" ... preferences were changed, in particular, workspace setup... grrrrr .... fixed that. OK .... have work to finish up 1 image before I go out. Now I can't feather a selected area after removing the background. I have tried every setting I can think of. Have another machine still running WIN8.1 with PSP X5 .... not a problem finishing the work on that system ....

So what else has the "service pack" broken/updated ?
File tree under "File" .... bottom of the table disappears and changes as I mouse over ... can't do screen cap as it changes ....

I'm still trying to find if anything else has been "updated"

Thanks Corel
Hi Karebai, we are sorry to hear so many issues that you met after updating SP1. It should not happen as it is and we are expecting to figure them up with you together ASAP. If you do not mind, would you mind to describe each issue you mentioned in detail? Like "reproduce step", "reproduce rate"...etc. Current description you wrote in the forum is too rough and we cannot duplicate them from our side correctly. If you can take your time to share more information with us, it will be great!!
Thank you Joseph, I hope so - as this is happening on my laptop here are some system, specs -
Windows 10 Professional (x64) (build 10586)
HP 650 Notebook PC
2.50 gig Intel Core i3-3120M
Hewlett-Packard 1858 65.33
498.73 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 [Display adapter]
Generic PnP Monitor (15.3"vis)
PSP X8 18.1.0.67 (32 & 64 bit versions installed)

Workspace - original setup was
1. open in edit mode
2. workspace colour medium grey
3. background colour dark grey

After service pack install
1. opened in manage mode
2. workspace colour dark grey
3. background colour black

Feathering issue -
Load image, removed background (with eraser tool), saving periodically as I worked. When I finshed removing background
- select magic wand - settings replace,colour, tolerance = 20, contiguous checked, feather 2
then I select the areas for feathering, holding shift key to multi select areas.
hit delete key 2,3,4,5,6, times ... nothing happens - no feathering
(When I do exactly the same actions in X5 on my desktop, feathering occurs as it has done in every version of PSP that I have had since ver 7.

File tree movement is hard to capture as it changes as I mouse over the options. I have tried and these are what I got
The attachment menu1.png is no longer available
this is when I use the "File" menu
The attachment menu2.png is no longer available
whenI use the mouse to try to select Preferences or Workspace, the menu changes, the option names "move" from preferences to workspace, and the exit option half appears instead of the "down" arrow.
Thank you for sharing these information.

1. In term of workspace setting has been reset after SP1 installed, it's an issue and we can reproduce here. We will follow up with it.
2. Feathering issue, we will take chance to have more testings.
3. About the file menu movement issue, we cannot reproduce it here. See below snapshot, have you found an "arrow" to show up at the bottom of list? When your mouse cursor moves to the arrow, the list will scroll down. Please confirm it.

I have experienced exactly the same installation problem as The Pathfinder (loss of text in dialog boxes and palettes). Haven't contacted support yet. What did they tell you The Pathfinder? Are they going to fix SP1? Until notified, I'm sticking with original X8.

Totally agree! And that is apart from all the extra advertising and agressive emailing campaign.

You can click on the arrow, but the full message comes back as soon as you use the materials again.
What's more, I had saved my workspace. I was stupid enough to save it to the default location.
SP 1 overwrites your saved workspace file.

So try to save your workspace file to a seperate location, so you can import it after installation of SP 1.

I have no problems with the menu, however. It is as if some SP 1 problems are universal and some totally different?

I use X8 only because I write about PSP. Personally, give me X7 any time and before that X2.
Everything before and after has been a problem ridden piece of software.
