Thank you Simone. Nice to know that someone out there acknowledges that this problem hasn't gone away, that it afflicts SP2 in the same way, and a solution is being sought. I've sent a PM

@ to all with the text issue (text is missing in menus) that came with SP 1 and was not solved in SP2:

We have finally nailed down the cause of the issue and released a fix.

For all customers who use PSPX8.0, please follow these steps:

Download SP 2 for PSPX8 from here:
http://www.paintshoppro.com/en/support/ ... duct-tab=0

Download the PSPX8.2_Text-missing.exe
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwT28 ... 3NmNHZ1YkE

1. Install SP 2 for PSPX8
2. Install PSPX8.2_Text-missing.exe

Thanks Simone.

I installed SP2 earlier this week and found it had not solved the problem with text disappearing from the menus for me. But now I have installed the additional "Text-missing" hotfix mentioned here and all is well. I now have a usable version of PSP8 with SP2 and the hotfix. Thank you for your efforts in helping to get this problem resolved.

I've read through most of the replies and didn't see a solution... I purchased an Intuos Photo WACOM tablet that came with a Corel software bundle ( PSP x8 and Aftershot 2)

I have not been able to install SP1 or SP2... i receive the same message each time
"No update of your installed software is required at this time".

I've tried downloading a trial version of PSP x8 and using my key but comes up as invalid. I can only use it for software bundle install.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please go to Help -> About and tell us what your version number is. It's possible that your bundle already has the SP's included. If not, they can be manually downloaded from here http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=55803

I've managed to NOT get any more ads when loading or closing.. Now does someone have any idea how to get rid of the ads in the brush menu? Yeah, I think I'm done buying PSPP now after all these years.. Ridiculous..

Corel has no plans to stop the in app advertisements that they have forced upon us. Found a workaround, however it will leave a blank spot where the advertisements once appeared. Under C:ProgramData/Corel/Corel PaintShop Pro X8/IPP , replace "storeData.json" with a empty file by same name and change the attributes to " read only".

I also, added 127.0.0.1 ipp.corel.com to my hosts file, although not sure if this was necessary.

In addition, I plan on writing a letter to the CEO (Patrick Nichols) to express my displeasure that his company has taken upon themselves to force nagware on those of us that have purchased his fine product. I really do like PaintShop, but I don't enjoy spending my hard earned money every year for advertisements.

Hope this helps,

Chip
There is another message delivery system Corel uses also, I believe, not counting the one in the Brushes dialogue. To turn those off just go to Help>Message Preferences and uncheck the boxes.
