Thanks for your response Simone. I worry when there seems to no 'apparent' communications from Corel. We forum users may only be the tip of the iceberg. But just ask the captain of the Titanic what happens when you ignore the tip of an iceberg!!!!!
Other companies can do it. I now use Photoline as my main editor and they respond to their forum users. I use Topaz and they respond. QImage also. I'm more than nervous about PSP's future and can't afford to get caught. I've had ever version since PSP5. Reading the many threads on this site prevents me from going to x8. Corel needs to ask why they are losing their old time users.

Communications.

The product management monitors this forum and reacts fast as soon as there is an issue coming up. I also look into the forum regularly. That I don't answer to most of the incoming posts doesn't mean that I'm not seeing it.
I assure you that those customers who are affected by the text issue are no tip of an iceberg, and they are clearly in the minority (1). Many Windows 7 64-bit users here in the forum have already confirmed that they have no issue at all. Knowing the culprit and removing it has no impact. I myself installed the culprit, but my PSPX8.1 still worked fine.

Unfortunately, this "text issue" is by no means something that you can find and solve within hours.

Simone see what's happening here? It's called communications. If only Corel had more folks like you who can see the value of communication. And I don't mean full blown Corel staff back and forth. Just an acknowledgement that things are happening.

Again thanks.

For SP2, I would like the option to get rid of the ads in the dialog boxes. On my laptop I can see only one row of brushes and if I minimize the ad, the OK and cancel buttons go with it.

Corel has no plans to stop the in app advertisements that they have forced upon us. Found a workaround, however it will leave a blank spot where the advertisements once appeared. Under C:ProgramData/Corel/Corel PaintShop Pro X8/IPP , replace "storeData.json" with a empty file by same name and change the attributes to " read only".

I also, added 127.0.0.1 ipp.corel.com to my hosts file, although not sure if this was necessary.

In addition, I plan on writing a letter to the CEO (Patrick Nichols) to express my displeasure that his company has taken upon themselves to force nagware on those of us that have purchased his fine product. I really do like PaintShop, but I don't enjoy spending my hard earned money every year for advertisements.

Hope this helps,

Chip

It's a java script file, so if familiar with js coding you could likely put anything you want into the blank space, like a picture, your favorite quotation, etc. :-)

Well, Service Pack 2 has been released. But it suffers the same problem as SP1. Seems unbelievable but Corel still haven't fixed the problem.

There were several problems with SP1, some different for different users. Which problem are you referring to?

It's the problem most of these 11 pages have been discussing and first written by the Pathfinder on 26 Dec just after release of SP1. After installing the SP (1 and now 2), the labels and much text are blank and the programme is unusable. The only solution is to uninstall, reinstall the original and refuse all updates and patches. Corel haven't found a solution and don't seem to be interested. I've been with PSP in various versions almost from the beginning. This is disappointing and may point to a sad end.

There is a thread here regarding the SP2 update (see link below). It has close to 1000 views and only a few comments, and nobody has commented that SP2 still has this issue you describe, and I would suspect that if other people still had that issue they would have commented on it just as they did here about SP1. So it would appear that yours is not the common experience with SP2. The SP2 thread is here, and likely a better place for you to post issues you have with SP2:

Thanks JoeB for pointing me at the SP2 forum, to which I've now posted. However, I'm quite happy to have posted on the SP1 thread too because SP1 is still unfixed for those affected and a Corel employee had been writing on that thread about trying to fix it. Obviously, it is a minority who are affected but Corel forums and reports elsewhere suggest that it is not tiny or insignificant, and it is not unimportant to those who've paid for a properly supported product.

SP2 IS the fix for SP1, at least it fixes it for most people. If you read the revision history you would see that the issue you are describing (truncating of menus, etc) has been fixed with SP2. If it hadn't been, there would be a lot of complaints about SP2 just like there were for SP1. So far you are the only one who has posted otherwise in this thread or the SP2 thread, and as you indicate in your post in the latter thread it is likely your system configuration that SP2 is incompatible with. I don't think you can conclude that because there are not a bunch of posts about problems with SP2 it is because people haven't bothered trying it to see if it fixes SP1 for them.

To all with text issues

Indeed, the issue is far more complicate and hasn't been solved. We are looking for another affected machine for a remote session to see what is going on with PSPX8. If a UK customer or European customer with text issue is reading this and wants to help us, can you please send me a private message?
