I'm doing a project for a marketing group.
They want to use lower third graphics as you see on newscasts for this video.
I've seen a bunch of these clips for sale at places like Shutterstock and Videoblocks
Do these work in Video Studio 7? The websites usually mention After Effects but not Corel.
Heres a link to some of the lower thirds graphics for sale

Re: do lower third video clips work in Video Studio X7?
Here is an FAQ from the site:
===========================================
Are the clips compatible with my editing program?
Last Updated: Apr 28, 2015 01:25PM EDT
Our video clips are available in both MOV and MP4 format. While most software supports these formats, please check your editing program to see what formats it supports.
===========================================
Since VS accepts MOV and MP4 formats, one should be able to insert in the timeline and any overlay track. I have not purchased any content from this site, so can't tell you that it will definitely work.

Re: do lower third video clips work in Video Studio X7?
in theory it "should work" I suppose.
That doesnt mean a lot you know
I think these clips probably use alpha channels, in order to be transparent, but that can cause a lot of issues in Corel.
Corel requires 8bit, what if the alpha channel isnt 8bit, even if you can rip it out of the clip and convert it, it might not line up right ever again.

Re: do lower third video clips work in Video Studio X7?
I have never downloaded any Video Blocks footage of any kind, but I have a subscription with Digital Juice which serves much the same function. Amongst many other things I have downloaded from them has been a range of lower thirds. They are in .mov format, and I have never had any trouble inserting these into Video Studio projects (I've had the DJ subscription since VS X7).
Lower thirds logically go into one of the overlay tracks and as such overlay whatever is in the main video track. Alpha channel does not arise in that case, though may need to be dealt with if you wish to insert something into the lower third itself, such as a moving 'tickertape' title by using yet another overlay track. That too is pretty normal -- indeed what lower thirds are usually for -- and again I have never had any trouble using the VS chroma controls to achieve what I am after -- though chroma involves a bit of fiddling around before you are satisfied...

If it is of any value, when using an image file for a mask, if is not in 8-bit bitmap format, VS will automatically convert the mask.
