Flash Drives
Has anyone saved their clips from Video studio to a flash drive? I am using Video Studio Pro X8 Ultimate. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Re: Flash Drives
There is no problem saving clips to a flash drive, just remember what drive letter has been assigned to the drive when saving, windows has a habit of assigning different drive letters so you need to ensure that the correct drive is selected next time you open the flash drive.
You can save completed rendered projects to flash drives, which is what I do, rather than burning to DVD, you can also save "Packed Projects" if you are trying to save hard drive space

Re: Flash Drives
Have you had an actual problem doing so, or were you just asking about the experience of other users before trying it yourself?
FWIW, like RobertOZ, I use flash drives and external USB hard drives just about all the time in my video editing and never had any trouble. Just need to bear in mind Robert's advice about the drive letter assigned by Windows to the drive...

Re: Flash Drives
I also have started using flash drives, I put clips on them and plug them into the USb port on my TV when I want to see them on a big screen also for transferring video to my wife's computer so she can put them on her friends facebook, find them very useful.
Must say I haven't had any problems with the wrong drive letter coming up.

Re: Flash Drives
It's only a problem if you are still working on a project and the clips in it are on the drive. If you insert it and a different letter is assigned by Windows (where another USB device has been plugged in earlier and taken over the original letters), then Video Studio will not be able to find the clips on the new letter drive, so you would need to do a Relink.

Re: Flash Drives
I assume Robert is referring to a Smart Package, I would use that option to save all project clips to a flash drive.Ken Veal wrote:What is a Packed Project ?

Re: Flash Drives
If I want to playback via a usb stick-
1. When rendering the project do I still use the mpg 2 option as I have been
2. If I want to Pack as a folder, does the option ”Include all unused trackers in the project” only apply if motion tracking has been used or does that apply to something else
