Colorshift when exporting to srgb
I've read all kinds of webpages about this subject, and I'm still confused about what to do.
I work for magazines and web, thus I thought exporting to srgb is the way to go. The magazines I work for also need them in srgb.
I'm using Linux, I have a wide gamut and calibrated monitor. When I work on a raw image with my preferences in ASP set to my monitor profile as working environment, the colors look accurate (enough), like a deep scarlet red. But when I export the image as srgb (or adobe rgb) and embed the color profile, the jpg colors look dull, even when opened in Gimp with settings of 'keep embedded profile' and with the same monitor profile enabled. And even when trying to convert the image to another profile.
So what are the best working conditions and export conditions in ASP when it comes to color and with magazines and web as target???

What happens when you load the image into AS and view it side by side with the original?

Re: Colorshift when exporting to srgb
On the left the correct (red) colors, raw file, on the right the exported srgb image which I imported back into ASP:

I hope you can see the right colors
. Probably you have to view the image in Firefox.

Re: Colorshift when exporting to srgb
Ouch..
You could try to soft proof to sRGB to see if it really relates to the profile.
After all, a wide gamut screen can show lots more than sRGB can. But in this case me thinks something is buggy and needs a call to support.

Re: Colorshift when exporting to srgb
Ok, I guess I´ll have to do that.
Here is the same image, on the left the raw image set to softproof with srgb profile. Even then the colors are different from the one I exported/imported (on the right). The red is a little bit more saturated/darker in softproof, but still completely wrong.

Wait,something went wrong with upoading...
I just corrected the uploaded image... You can view it now.

Re: Colorshift when exporting to srgb
They should be close...
Something is seriously wonky here. (You did check that the sRGB profile is included in the exported JPG did you?).

Re: Colorshift when exporting to srgb
I set the colorspace to srgb when exporting and checked 'embed color profile'.
When I open the image in Gimp (set to keep embedded profile) it shows
sRGB IEC61966-2.1
IEC 61966-2.1 Default RGB colour space - sRGB
But perhaps I could send you the raw file so that we are sure, before I send in a bug report?

Yes, the file that defines the batch queue. It can be found in the batches directory of your AS user directory.Kneops wrote:Queue?

Re: Colorshift when exporting to srgb
It is already strange on my Linux box which has an odd gamut.
Definitely time for a bug report.

Re: Colorshift when exporting to srgb
Thanks afx.
What is the best place to report this bug are do you report these to the developers?
It's kind of a serious bug imho, because it's important to have good exports.
