I used to have VideoStudio X4 and DVD MovieFactory 7, but recently upgraded to VS X8.5 since DVD MF stopped working on my PC. I was hoping that X8.5 would combine the capabilities of both programs, especially when it comes to authoring DVDs.
Here is my question - in DVD MF, you used to be able to "Join" video clips into a single clip, and add text to the joined clip, as well as automatically insert transitions between chapters and fade-to-black at the end of the last clip. In X8.5 when I am authoring a DVD, it seems that you can only "Join" videos into a single clip, but there is no option to add text and transitions. Am I missing something here or are those features just not available in X8.5 DVD authoring?
I guess I could manually join the clips and add text and transitions, and then save this as a clip to import into the DVD wizard. But this seems like a very manual extra step that I would prefer not to do. What is the best practice to accomplish this functionality in X8.5?

Re: VideoStudio X8.5 DVD Authoring / Join Video
In Videostudio it is not possible to "join" video clips in the timeline as I know you can do in some other editing programmes
you also need to add overlays / transitions / text in the timeline before you create the final video - unless you are referring to text on the DVD menu as you have to do that in the authoring/burn module.
I don't see having to add text etc in the timeline as any extra steps - you just add it in the timeline instead of the authoring module - same steps - different place
