Arranging files on overlay tracks
Hello. I have a question, if I may. I put one mp4 video on the main video track, and three overlay mp4 videos on three different overlay tracks, to be shown side by side simultaneously on top of the main video track. I customize the motion of the first overlay video to bring it full screen for a few seconds, then back to previous size alongside the other two. But when I bring it to full screen the other two overlay tracks are shown on top of the full screen overlay clip. How can I prioritize the overlay videos to send the other ones to the back so they're not seen when I enlarge the first? I need to do this three times. Enlarge the first, then make small again, then enlarge the second and make small again, then the third. Thanks.

Hi Glen
the lowest overlay track in the GUI will always overlay the track above it and that will overlay the track above that right the way up to the main video track and everything will overlay that
is this the sort of thing you are wanting to do - - - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFyyfVHhyIw

Re: Arranging files on overlay tracks
Hi Brian. Yes, that's exactly what I need to do. Yours looks excellent. However, I'm still not doing something right. I set it up so overlay track 3 starts first, and that works well, covering all on the screen when I customize motion to fill the screen then shrink again. Then when I customize the motion of overlay track 2, it doesn't cover overlay track 3 on the screen. These are mp4 videos I'm working with on the overlay tracks, not images. Can this be done? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers. Glenn

Re: Arranging files on overlay tracks
Below is a screen shot of the complete timeline used to make that clip on Youtube - if you click on the image it should grow to fit the screen so that you can see it clearer.
to get it to work you need to make sure that the image which is zooming is in the bottom most track - you will see my 4 images dotted along - if the other images are not overlapping then they can be in any overlay track and you can see mine move about the timeline a bit throughout.
the thing about the 'custom motion' is that you can set specific locations an sizes on each image so all you need to do is make a note of each images size and location parameters so that no matter how many times you put the same image in different tracks you can always put it in exactly the same location at the same size so it will not appear to jump around the screen
you could expand on the idea and zoom more than 4 - maybe just by changing a static image while the moving one fills the screen - and then move the 5th (6th , 7th etc) into the bottom track when it is it's time to zoom
see what you make of this

Re: Arranging files on overlay tracks
Thanks for the quick reply. That screen shot clearly shows what's needed to be done. I'll get right on it and let you know how it turns out. Looks like a lot of work.

Re: Arranging files on overlay tracks
Hi Brian, your method works perfectly. It takes a bit of arranging of myriad clips on the timeline, but the end product is exactly what I need. Thanks.
