Re: Best PSP version?
I have the same issue with X5. Does anyone know if the older plugins will work with X5, and if so, how to enable this? The KPT and KPT5 plugins are the only ones that will work in my X5 at the moment.

Re: Best PSP version?
Have you tried this:
Control Panel>System>System Protection>
Advanced>Settings.
Select the Data Execution Prevention tab.
Click on Add + navigate to the Program files (x86), then add the the PSP version exe file.
Apply.

Re: Best PSP version?
I think the easiest way to determine if it is a problem with Data Execution Protection is simply to select the top option - i.e., Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only. If the problem with plugins still exists then it shouldn't be a DEP issue. For those who have good anti-virus and are relatively computer savvy enough to not find themselves accidentally installing a virus then that is a good option to use, although for some the extra security of using the second DEP option might be prudent.
Also, 32-bit plugins (which are the majority of older plugins) will only work on 32-bit installations of PSP, so if you have a whole bunch of those you want to be sure to have 32-bit PSP installed. However, some of the newer plugins (or the latest upgrades of some older ones) are only 64-bit so that can be an issue if you have a lot of them.

Re: Best PSP version?
The problem with X6 and plugins is mostly solved by excluding PSP from Windows DEP.
It is one of Corel's more unstable versions of PSP, I think.
I have worked with PSP since version 7, when it was still brought out by Jasc.
I now work with X7 and X8.
PSP X7 has been given a major overhaul, but I would recommend it anytime.
You need to download and install Servicepack 1 and then exclude X7 from Windows DEP.
After that you have the most stable version of PSP in many, many years.
Plugins work fine.
Beware however, that when you do switch to Windows 10, quite a few of the old filters will not work anymore as some are still 16-bit and others 32-bit.
Same applies when you install X8. It appears stable for now, but I seldom work with plugins anymore.
Always install the 32-bit version of PSP only, if you use plugins.

Re: Best PSP version?
Yes, I use X7 32-bit on my 64-bit Windows 8.1 PC and all of my old plugins (I have many of both paid and free ones) work as well as some newer ones. Like some others there are a few newer plugins that I can't get to work natively like Nik Viveza, but I use the workaround script created by forum member JSJ and they work fine with that. I have DEP set for only essential windows programs and processes. I don't plan to update to Windows 10 for awhile given some issues some people have with it not playing nicely with some older programs that I also use.daremeto wrote:Joe i see your using psp x7 32 bit, are you able to use 3rd party plugins with x7? i have a 64 bit pc but i have the 32 bit version of psp installed because all my plugins are 32 bit. i have a ton of filters paid and free and would like to continue using them.

Re: Best PSP version?
Here's another thought. Many older 32-bit plugins won't work without the Msvcrt10.dll in the System 32 folder. Check and see if you have that dll file. If not, you can get it here and simply place it in the System 32 folder.daremeto wrote:Joe i see your using psp x7 32 bit, are you able to use 3rd party plugins with x7? i have a 64 bit pc but i have the 32 bit version of psp installed because all my plugins are 32 bit. i have a ton of filters paid and free and would like to continue using them.
