I'm trying to get VS6 to recognize my cell phone so that i can get my videos and pics straight into VS. So I clicked the icon, "record/capture options", then "mobile device" , but my cell phone isn't there. So I checked my computer and the computer recognizes it. The only thing VS sees is HDD, I'm not sure what exactly that is, but it's showing thumbnails that I have in the videos folder in VS.
So my computer is recognizing the phone but VS isn't.
Any ideas to fix this?
I also went to "settings" > 'add", but my phone HTC desire 510 isn't listed there, but everything else appears to be.

There may not be a way to get VS to directly recognise your phone - but that is not necessarily a problem if your computer can see the contents of your phone
just use your computer to copy the files from your phone to your HDD (Hard Disk Drive) - that is the main part of your computer where all the programmes and data are stored - put them in a folder inside of "my videos"
then open video studio and import or insert the videos into VS
you can import to any library or create a new one specially for them by using the 'ADD' icon at the top of the list of libraries.
inside each usable library - at the top is an icon which looks like a folder opening - click on that and browse to the folder holding your videos - select them and and they will then appear in the library.
OR
if you don't want them in the library then RIGHT click over the timeline - choose INSERT VIDEO and again browse to the videos and select them and they will appear in the timeline

Re: VS X6 doesn't recognize my phone
Hello Brian,
Thank you for your reply. I have already been doing that to get my files into VS, but I just wanted to try to avoid a step which I guess really isn't much of a step to save.
But I also wanted to transfer voice recorder files from my HTC desire 510 Android phone into the voice track in VS. However, it seems that I can't because VS says it's a mismatch.
I recently bought a headset with a microphone in the wire, but it doesn't seem to work after I've tried every troubleshooting thing that I found. I can't even get it to work on my computer at all.
So I was trying to record with my phone and install the insert the voice recorder file into the soundtrack in VS, but no, file mismatch.
I even changed the default program on my computer to have VS open the sound files. The file extension is .aac. I'm trying everything I can to do this without spending any more money.
Any ideas??? Should I find out how to convert the file to something else?

Yes Videostudio is quite restricted in the types of audio file it will accept - .wav and .wma certainly and most mp3's
if the phone is different to that then you will need to convert it to one of those first
There are numerous free converters around on the internet - the one I use is "Format Factory" from http://format-factory.en.softonic.com/ which has sections for both video and audio
just be careful when downloading - they even warn you on the download page - watch what you are being offered as you start the download or you will get a number of extra programmes, I don't think any of thm are harmful but they can be a nuisance - especially one that changes your browser

Re: VS X6 doesn't recognize my phone
Brian,
Thank you very much for the link and other info. I'll definitely try out the converter. All I want to do is a voice over for a video I just made.
I'll get back to this topic to let you know how it goes.
