X8 CANNOT REDUCE WINDOW
Hello,
I'm using X8 64 on Windows 10.
I click on
-> File
-> Open
and the window for selectionning folder and/or file opens.
With the pointer (double arrow on a side), I enlarge this window.
I can no more reduce it !
I opened X7 and same problem.
It is related to Windows 10 and a recent update ?

Re: X8 CANNOT REDUCE WINDOW
For me on Windows 7 Pro double-clicking on the title bar will enlarge/reduce the window. Have you tried that?

Yes Kathy, double-clicking works on my PSP.Kathy_9 wrote:For me on Windows 7 Pro double-clicking on the title bar will enlarge/reduce the window. Have you tried that?
But it is not my problem.
When I have enlarged the window (by dragging the sides), I cannot reduce to its initial state.
I tested on Windws 8 (another computer with same softwares) and it works.

Re: X8 CANNOT REDUCE WINDOW
Argh . . . I tried this to check out the problem and yes, with Win 10 I can't reduce the size of the window. This affects ALL the Save, Save As windows. And resetting X8 does not fix the problem!. So now, I'm stuck with the huge interface until a new version of X8 comes out or I reinstall X8.

Re: X8 CANNOT REDUCE WINDOW
I just tried by dragging the sides of the window and was able to revert so I am wondering if this is more an issue with Windows 10 and not PSP since File -> Open calls Windows Explorer.

Re: X8 CANNOT REDUCE WINDOW
Yes, I also suspect some interaction between PSP and Windows 10.Kathy_9 wrote:I just tried by dragging the sides of the window and was able to revert so I am wondering if this is more an issue with Windows 10 and not PSP since File -> Open calls Windows Explorer.
On my computer, Windows Explorer works as expected : modifying its size by dragging the sides is reversible.
But in PSP, it is not exactly the same display : the reducing button visible in Windows Explorer is not visible in PSP.

Re: X8 CANNOT REDUCE WINDOW
I checked other versions of PSP and the interface windows are corrupted in all versions. I suspect this may happen if the window touches both the top and bottom edges of the display. So, don't experiment if you are at all happy with the size of your window. I tried a few things and nothing works.

Re: X8 CANNOT REDUCE WINDOW
I can sympathize with your problems. But as a computer user from pre-GUI days I am most comfortable with apps that are full screen. While I recognize that people who grew up with GUI's are most comfortable with their apps in windows, switching between full-screen apps is pretty easy with modern (after the mid-1990's) operating systems.
Until somebody fixes the issue, best to do as MarkZ suggests and not let your windows touch the tops or bottoms of your displays.

Re: X8 CANNOT REDUCE WINDOW
My first message was posted two years ago.
I tested today and in X8, the behaviour is now correct.
And no problem with PSP 2019 : I enlarged to fill the complete screen and could reduce...

Re: X8 CANNOT REDUCE WINDOW
I see that Hoccomo necro'd this thread 3 years, and I didn't even notice! It was probably because both the OP and the necro were on the same month and nearly the same day date of their respective years + the '5' in '2015' stuck with the OP in my mind. Ah well. I won't be the last person sucked in by an old thread.
I am glad this issue is sorted out now. It was probably a MS issue that was fixed with one of their innumerable Updates.
