Can't import projects from vsx6 Ultimate to VSX8.5 Ultimate

I just up grade from VS X6 Ultimate to VS X8.5 Ultimate

I can't load my projects (VSP) to VS X8.5 timeline.
Projects were originally edited with VS X6 ;projects content are mainly JPEG ;transitions.and music (MP3)
VS X8.5 will freeze ...for ever

Yet task manager tells me that VS X8.5 is not responding..

Any suggestion

Are you going "File >> open project" then browsing to the project file - selecting it - and clicking "open"

or what ????

Yes I did exactly as you stated. Please note that I can load project(VSP) that do not content transitions..
I also noticed that I have a problem with the transitions..(potentially related to my import projects)
I see only the Overlay transitions..
I am obviously missing a lot..
I understand there is another topic for missing transitions and I did uninstall and re-install
the 4 exe files
main.exe
bonus.exe
contents.exe
Blu-ray.exe

I did apply the VSX85 hot fix

I still missing the transitions.
Please advise

Close VS. Go to C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64) (or without the (x64) if you have the 32 bit installed). Delete the folder labelled 18.0 or give it a name like 18.0_OLD if you want to restore it later. Reopen VS and that folder will be rebuilt, hopefully this time with all the transitions showing.

Note that AppData is a hidden folder so you need to ensure you can see hidden folders: Control Panel > File Explorer Options > View > and tick the box beside Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives.

I went through all your suggested process and yet I still have only the overlay transitions
Could you inform me where the transitions file are situated and their file extension

At least I could verify if the files have been properly downloaded

Any suggestions are more than welcome

when you select the transitions library what is showing in the little drop down in the top left corner - is it showing "All" - if not change it to all

Hi

Have you uninstalled Video Studio X6, if yes then you may have problems with projects made with X6
The samples and transitions used in your original projects will be using those installed to the X6 folders and that may cause problems opening X6 vsp's in X8

Try re-installing X6

I see 128 transitions in X6 Transition Library; when I click the drop down 'All"
I see 40 transitions in X8 Transition library; when I click the drop down 'Overlay Transitions" my other choice in the drop down is Favorites
I do not see 3D,Album etc in the drop down.....

I guess its getting colder over there.

You seem to be doing everything right to restore your transitions.
One poster recommended re-installing, yes I realise you have done that.
But after installing the Main program, open the program and run it, make sure it works ok
Check for updates and install those, X8 generally does that automatically.

As far as I know the transitions are part of the main program so should show now?

Close the program -- Then install the Contents package.
Again run the program
Close and if you have the Ultimate package install followed by the Bluray

Maybe a 32 bit program Windows 10 issue?

If you view Windows Explorer
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X8\Vfx_plug

How many entries do you see, I see about 130 for X6, X8 should be similar.

I see 128 vfx file in both VS X6 AND VS X8

I guess I better uninstall vs x8 and start fresh

Could you confirm what is the size of the download file

I see the following
1.63gb for 1_main
1.50gb for 3_bonus
1.50gb for 2_contents
4.51mb for Blu_ray

I have the original X8 version my installation files are a different size to the ones you show
Main at 1.37Gb
Bonus 1.57Gb
Content 864Mb

Corel upgraded the program to X8.5 I assume for new purchases new files.
For existing 8.1 users a Service Pack 8.5 update at 347Mb was provided

So I cannot really compare the files size?

Can you confirm you did this?

Being Hidden..
if from the windows start button type appdata in the search box will find the appdata /Roaming folder, from there navigate to the 18.0 folder

I originally proceeded as per Ken suggestion; it did not work

I uninstall and re-downloaded the files
I installed with Administrator Level
The good news is that I can see all the transitions now but I still have concerns

I did as you suggested; installed main file and noticed that I was then able to see all transitions...

While installing the main exe. file
I received two messages
"A later version of Apple Application Support is already installed on this computer"
I click "OK"

THE SECOND MESSAGE (That's my concern)
"A newer Version of Quick Time is already installed.
This installation cannot proceed while the newer version of Quick TIme is installed"
I clicked the "X"

At the end of the installation I installed a hotfix file ;as suggested by Corel

I have QT Version 7.7.8(1680.95.71)

I installed content file ;bonus file;'Blu-ray file; and I was able to see all transitions

And I was therefore able to "load"VSX6 projects

Should I revised my installation since all seems to be working find....

I also noticed that "Haali Media Splitter" program has been installed...A quick Google search tells me to stay away from it...

It does appear you have fixed all problems.

Don’t worry about QuickTime, the program completed installation ok.
Haali Splitter was installed by the program again no problems there.
