Installing updates and graphics, letters etc

I have problems installing any update or free titles, graphics, templates, etc.
It gives me this error and doesn't allow to go any further:

First your profile shows you using Windows 7, could you update your profile to show the correct details. Thanks
Are you getting the error during downloading or during installation?

My first thoughts are your internet browser, I think Corel may default to using Internet Explorer, is your version upto date.
You may be best to re-set the browser, go to Tools menu Internet Options – Advanced Tab – Reset
Please read the information before proceeding as this will remove your personal data passwords etc.

I have tried to update my profile but I don't konw exactly how to do it!
Thus profile was created when I was working with Windows 7, now is Windows 8.1 and 8gb RAM
The error is when installing, it seems to download ok.

No, I did what you suggested with the Explorer...

If Corel uses Explorer by default, can it be change to Firefox?
Maybe this will solve the problem.

Are you able to perform a windows update or does that also fail
View your Windows update History to see any failed updates?

Do you have a virus or Malware installed there was a nasty one called Browser Protect, installed without our knowledge. Now that affected my Windows Auto Updates, basically affecting my internet connections, not sure what else it affected, but a bad bit of stuff.

Check your Programs and Features for odd programs, Browser Protect, Browser Search or Browser Conduits, Search Protect or similar names.

You are running Video Studio 8
The service packs updates the program to 8.5, your version number should be 18.5.0.25
If not then download and install the Service Packs

You can download from here.

Service Pack 1
X8.5 Update
X8.5 HotFix, this corrects problems with X8.5 update

And if you have Boris Graffiti, install that patch as well

Maybe updating the program will allow access to the do More downloads?

alfons -- I've adjusted your Profile to include Win 8.1 and 8 GB of RAM, as well as adding VS X8 Ultimate. Let us know when/if you upgrade to X8.5, and if there is anything else in your Profile which needs updating...

8 GB RAM
Monitor HP 24Uh
Hard disc: 1Tb

Further more:
A few weeks ago I tried to update to 8.5 as you suggest.
Once updated, all the files you said, I had problems with some plugins, so I had to go back to the old version.
I a post in the past I mentioned this problerm but no solution was found to it.

I have download again VSProX8_SP1, vsprox85_Update and VSX85_Hotfix and I can't install any of them.
I get the same error everytime I try to install.

Perhaps it has nothing to do with the Studio X8?
