Foreground Color unavailable

Post by Calade »

Hi all,

I've just upgrade from X7 to X8 and want to work on an ancient picture created from scratch.
When I want write a text on it, the foreground picture is unavailable and if I switch foreground to background colour it is the background colour which is unavailable.

If I create a new picture (Alt + N), same thing.

what is the problem. I Think I've clicked where I not ought to, but where ?

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you have switched one of your color boxes to transparent (circle with a line through it).
Underneath your color boxes are three squares. The first one needs to be clicked and Color selected.(the other alternatives in this first square are gradient and pattern). The middle square says texture and the third one says transparent. You have probably accidentally clicked this.

Thanks, you were right.

It's OK now.
By the way, it seems that with X8, the pspimage extension is no longer assign to PSP ant there is no way in the app to reassign it.
I must use windows explorer to do it.

Am I right or wrong ?

What do you mean the PspImage extension no longer assigns to PSP? Have you set your default programmes in Windows?

Yes, in PSP I have selected ALL the extensions (JPG, TIFF, etc...), but the pspimage was not present and so was not assigned to be open by PSP.

I ought to assign it via windows explorer.

Thanks for your answer.

I tested with PSPX8 on a Win 7 Laptop.. Made a new image painted a couple of strokes of color and saved as a .pspimage to the desktop.
Closed X8.
Viewed the thumbnail on the desktop which showed the thumbnail correctly both on the desktop and in the Desktop folder.
I double clicked the .pspimage and it opened in PSP X8. Seems to me that it was correctly associated with PSP X8 and I did not have to do anything else.
When I installed the program I accepted Don't Associate anything. (I prefer all my other common graphics files to open in Irfanview which is faster in opening and shows the images quickly for faster selection of files from a group.)
Should I wish to open a file in PSP or another graphics program I can right click and open in any version of PSP, Photoshop, ACDsee and any other graphic programs I have installed and may wish to use.

Yes, it has been correctly associated on your PC.

Nonetheless, it's not very heavy as I could surround this.
Thanks again for all theses messages.
