Lost Windows Media Player 10 Sound

Post by Wisehart »

Since installing VideoStudio 9 I've lost the sound in my Windows Media Player 10 DVD playback. I performed a system restore to the day I installed VideoStudio 9 and the sound on the Media Player was restored. Undoing the system restore back to the current time, caused Media Player sound to disappear. Any ideas?

I have a similar problem, see my thread "lost audio using MS media player" posted a few days ago, I have had no look in getting it to work so far. I will monitor your thread with interest.

Like I said, there are some files (from VS9) that conflict with WMP.

Please email Ulead Tech support and inform them about your problem so they can give you the updates to overwrite some common files.

Hi Philander,

I am using a trial version, I went on the website - technical support section and as far as I can tell I cannot get technical support until I upgrade to the full version?

You should be able to get audio back by installing the AC3 DirectShow Filter. The trial doesn't include AC3 audio support, but this filter handles all relevant audio formats.

Interesting that Ulead just released an update to MovieFactory 4.0, and one of the items it fixes is audio in MediaPlayer. so maybe if they release an update for VS9, they will include a similar fix for the audio issue...

Good avice THoff, except that patches don't work with trial versions.

Please re-read what I wrote -- nowhere did I say to install a Ulead patch. I'm saying that installing a third-party DirectShow filter should get the sound back.

Thorsten,

I don't know if there is something I am missing, but I am still not getting the audio out of media player 10, even after running that new codec. It is not a huge problem because I can play the files in other applications. I am still trying to tune the AC3Filter application, but haven't had much success yet.
