screen capture in Video studio ultimate x8

Post by magoo 72 »

When I try to use the screen capture in x8, I get a error message Prepair Record Failed # 50. the screen capture stops before the initial count down hardly starts. If I close out X8 and open video studio x5 the screen capture will work, but there is no sound. I thought the files didn't install correctly, I downloaded the X8 files again, and have the same results.I went to corel. com and have a case number, and a person assigned to me, but this takes forever. Yesterday, I received the email allowing me to down load X8 program files, again for the third time. No one seems to have heard of this problem that I have, the driver for the screen capture working only on my x5. I'm wondering if it is even worth d/l X8 again. You know what they say, repeating the same action and expecting different results. anybody have any thoughts on this? thanks for your help in advance Magoo 72

Hi Magoo 72

Given that you appear to be having problems with the audio have you tried re-installing the audio drivers.
Your profile shows having a sound card installed so are the drivers upto date?

Hi Trevor another problem popped up. Hopefully you or someone passing by can help. I now can use screen capture, with my X5, but when I try to use the screen capture with my X8, it will not run. The count down just starts then program stops. message Prepair Record failed # 50. Maybe this is not a problem, use screen capture with X5 save the file, then use saved file with videostudio X 8, just a extra step. it will work that way. I f anyone has any ideas I would appreciate hearing them. Thanks Jack

Hi magoo 72,well VSX5 is 32 bit, what version of VSX8 did you install, 32 or 64 bit, just as a test could you open screen capture, in preferences turn off system audio,(so no audio is recorded) then try screen capturing, if that works then at least the problem has been isolated to audio, then try again with just voice recording enabled, if it still works then issue is with system audio

Hi RobertOZ thanks for your advice and help. Well I can run X5 with or without audio. I cannot run X8 screen capture with or without audio. I guess I downloaded 32 bit. I tried to install 64 bit, guess I didn't. sigh, at least I have the chance to download it again. I think I will uninstall both X5 and X8 prior to reinstalling X8, any thoughts on that? I was told that X8 was a stand alone product.. Thanks again for your help

Hi guys, I am still having problems with screen capture. I have so many conflicts with VSX5 and VSX8. I actually was using the screen capture using my X5. I could save the screen capture as a new project, then open VSX8 and use the screen capture. If I used VSX5 to view project I was working on in X8. ( by mistake) I would not be able to re open that project again in VSX8. I would get a message concerning files not right. I then started having severe problems opening VSX8. Most days it wouldn't open, I would have to run backup program, then VSX8 would open. I did get the VSX8 fix, after going online to corel, it should be noted that I have downloaded VSX8 at least 3 times, one of those times I uninstalled VSX5 prior to installing the VSX8. Since I downloaded the superfix for VSX8, I no longer am able to open VSX5. While working in my VSX8 the icon for the screen capture, has a large red dot, on it. No matter what I try I can not use screen catcher. As I am the ungeekiest computer person, you will ever meet, Should I just enjoy VSX8 and forget about using screen capture. I still get the same error message, when the screen capture stops Prepair Record Failed #50. Thanks in advance for any ideas or thoughts.
