Zooming in/ Resizing the brush in Windows 10
I have a question concerning the zooming in on canvas and resizing the brush. This might not be a big of an issue, but once you get yourself used to something, it's really bothering. Previously I've been using Windows 7 and the way things worked there is that I would use mouse wheel for zooming in or out the canvas. Also, if I wanted to resize the brush, I would just click on the Size numbers and I've used scroll wheel for adjusting the number up and down as well. The difference between Windows 7 and 10 is that in Windows 7, when you are resizing the brush size with the scroll wheel you could do it anywhere on the canvas, as long as you have first clicked on the Size numbers, i.e. selected resizing. That was very useful (I see now) because I could place the cursor in the middle of the canvas. scroll up or down with the wheel, and automatically watch the shape of the brush changing until it fitted the desired size. In Windows 10 you can only do that (resize the brush with the scroll wheel) when you are placing the cursor over the numbers in the Size field, therefore you don't see the brush shape changing until you adjust the numbers and go back to canvas. Placing cursor anywhere else, even when the numbers are selected, and using the scroll wheel, it only zooms the canvas in and out. So, my question is why did this change occur in Windows 10, because I've tried with X6 and X7 as well, and the same result. Is there any way to revert it as it was in Windows 7, so I can look at the brush changing it's shape as I resize it with the scroll wheel. That feature would be more than useful again. Thank you.

Re: Zooming in/ Resizing the brush in Windows 10
I Don't have experience with Windows 10 so far (trying to resist til other complainants get solved).
Yes the scroll resize of an item was great. But apparently with Windows 10 it takes notice of the current cursor position and uses that to decide what function the scroll wheel should perform.
I used to use the scroll wheel a lot for changes to brush sizes and sometimes still revert to it. Now I more often use the Alt key and move the cursor up to make a brush smaller and down to make it larger. This has worked anywhere on the screen image and faster than the scroll wheel for large changes. Does this still work in Windows 10 and so act as a work around?

I agree w/hartpaul that the Alt method is much faster.
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

Yes it does work, thanx for that. I wasn't using it before, but I guess I figured there had to be some keyboard shortcut. But, if anyone knows how to change back the cursor positioning thing like it was in Windows 7, whether it is chaning something in System files, or C++, or something, it would be more than great. Until then, thanx for the Alt tip

Well, I solved it. If this happens to anyone else if you are using these features, and you are switching from Windows 7 to Windows 10, what you need to do is go to Settings > Devices > Mouse & touchpad and set 'Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them' to OFF. Then it reverts to how it was in Windows 7. Works for Scaling, Opacity, Hardness, Layers, everything.

Re: Zooming in/ Resizing the brush in Windows 10
Much depends on the type of mouse one has. I have a Logitech Anywhere Mouse and it comes with its own software so I have no need to use the Mouse controls in Windows. What works for you may not necessarily work for others. However, I'm happy to hear that the problem is resolved with your Mouse which incidentally has nothing to do with PSP except for you applying settings for it to work with PSP. As others have quoted, the easiest way to increase/decrease a brush size is holding the Alt key.
