What's happened with the disks from Corel.

Post by MarjV »

I received my X8 disk today--not from Corel, but from Cleverbridge--and in a cardboard envelope - no paper covering, no key , nothing . Luckily I have the key from the email but it is such a departure from past experience I was startled and don't like it one bit.

Did Corel sell part of their corporation to this Cleverbridge? Or is there no Corel anymore?
And the bill was paid to Cleverbridge.

I'd really love to know.

Cleverbridge is an eCommerce service company. They list Corel as customer of theirs. So they handle the store and merchandising. Buying the physical copy is so rare these days they probably decreased their overall manufacturing and what you got was a "backup" disk. Those are given far less fancy packaging in almost all cases that I know of.

I had the same experience a couple of months ago when I bought the current version of CorelDRAW (X7) which is their flagship product. It didn't particularly worry me, as I knew about the Cleverbridge connection. Moreover, the disc had a clear label at the top saying "Backup Disc", and the serial number (key) was printed under the CorelDRAW Suite X7 title... Have you looked there?

Hi Ken

I looked again - no serial #, just my name and the order number and PSP X8 Upgrade are printed on the disk.
