I'm having a similar issue with my install for Aftershot Pro 64-bit. Strangely enough, I was never prompted for a serial number during the installation -- only after the installation and running the program. Downloading the trial did solve my problem, but I noticed that the trial download was for Aftershot Pro and not Aftershot Standard. After inputting the serial number, the program installed normally and activated itself as the Standard edition.
One thing that may help your developers is that the serial number (for the Aftershot install that I got with the PSP X8 Ultimate purchase) did not allow for specific letters to be put into the field -- and the serial number itself clearly requires those letters. The installation itself also did not prompt me for the serial number, unlike the Aftershot Pro Trial download.
