I have vs release x5 and use it to edit multi camera projects with a separate audio track. I would upgrade to the new release if it addressed some of the following issues:
1. Assume that you have a project with multiple video clips in the primary video track, video track 2, and an audio track. Assume that all the video clips are "in sync" with each other and the audio track.
If you try to add a fade (or any other transition) between 2 adjacent clips on the primary video track the video on the primary track will get out of sync with the video on track 2 and the audio track. For example if you add a 1 second fade between two 5 second clips VS will overlap 1/2 second of the end of clip 1 with 1/2 second of the beginning of clip 2. When this happens the overall length of clip 1 & clip 2 will be shorter than before you inserted the fade & your primary video track will now be out of sync with video track 2 and your audio track. The solution to this would be when inserting fades and other transitions to have VS extend the end or clip 1 (or extend the beginning of clip 2) to produce the cross fade without altering the overall length. Is there any EASY way to do this in the latest release?
2. In release x5 there there is any way to do a fade (or other effect) between your primary track and you overlay tracks. I saw a work around on you Youtube that involved copying part of the video clip on the overlay track to the primary track. This works but it would be great if there were a more automated way to do this.
3. When editing multi camera events it is very helpful if you could see all video tracks playing at the same time. The preview screen in x5 allows you to do this but portions of the primary video track are covered with your overlay tracks. It would be great if you could see the entire primary track and entire overlay tracks playing at the same time. I tried using second monitor for the preview screen. This allowed the only the preview screen to show up on the second monitor. However the overlay clips still covered portions of the primary track depending on how big you made the overlay track preview. I realize one way to do this would be to have a "blank" or all white primary track and only use overlay tracks for your video. However it would be better if you could do this using your primary video track.
Are any of the above addressed in the latest release?
Thanks

Re: pro x5 upgade: question about added features in releases
1) No, it's still the same in all up to the current X8
2) If you need to fade an overlay over track 1 than just do so, if the overlay is full screen than just use crossfade at it's ends. no need to copy.
3)No, it's still the same in all up to the current X8
But there are much more other update tools in X8 vs X5
