Screen Capture in PSP
For years I've been using Shift/C for screen capture, now it does not work. Nor does Ctrl/C. I know I can do it manually, is there a shortcut though?
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated by this newbie to your forum. Thanks,
Daniel

Re: Screen Capture in PSP
I find using the Print Screen key quicker, then copy as new image.
Have never liked using the PSP offering, too slow.

Re: Screen Capture in PSP
On the other hand if you want to do a number of screen captures eg, copying new item details in a strategy game. I find that setting an earlier version of PSP up(I use PSPX2) is the way to go.
I set it up to capture the full screen, use F1 as the trigger, set up for multiple captures. Close the setup screen, the Shift C to minimise X2 and have it ready to trap any screen including another version of PSP.
Get the screen I want visible, hit F10, go to next screen F10, repeat up to 15 times. Then open X2 and crop and save the screens. Shift C to minimise X2 to the task bar and do the next lot of screen captures.
Using the Windows screen capture is useful if you only have 1 screen capture to do or are not worried about efficiency.

Re: Screen Capture in PSP
Hi Daniel,
tested on my system and it works (Shift + C)
Verify your settings in Import screen capture etc.
PSP cannot capture itself. I think PSP needs a possibility to decide, with check/uncheck a case, if we want to capture PSP or not and with or without the cursor.

Re: Screen Capture in PSP
Testing the PSP screen capture features...
I see a bug but don't know if it is related to my system or not.
When capturing (from X8) another instance of PSP (X7) cursor included, in the screen capture obtained the cursor is shifted down from its initial place visible during the screen capture.
Do you observe the same defect ?

Thank you all for your answers and tips. Nothing seems to work though. Sorry I did not mention I'm working with PSPX5.

Re: Screen Capture in PSP
Daniel, to check and see if the screen capture is setup to work with a shortcut you need to check the shortcut editor.
Technically the shortcut keys will be listed right next to a menu item. So if you go File -> Import -> Screen Capture -> Start you'll see "Shift + C'" next to the start command. However, if more than one command is assigned to Shift + C you won't see that in the menu.
So we open up the Customize dialog and look to see what keys are assigned to what commands.
1) Open the Customize dialog - View -> Customize
2) Select the "Keyboard" tab
3) There will be a text box with the label "Press new shortcut key" click into this text box and hit SHIFT + C. It'll list all of the commands that SHIFT+C is assigned to.
You can also find all of the shortcuts assigned to a single command by selecting the command in the list to the left. All of the current keys will appear in the list to the right.
If SHIFT+C is only assigned to "Start" then it should work but for some reason isn't. At that point you can either assign a new shortcut key to the command and see if that works for you. Or you can try resetting the workspace to factory default.

@LeviFiction
Thanks for your response, I do not see a 'customize dialogue' box though. Google was of no help in locating it either.

Re: Screen Capture in PSP
Its under the View menu. View -> Customize
I'm including a video to help demonstrate what I'm thinking. Can't promise any of this will work but it's worth a try.

You need to select ALL COMMANDS in the Categories. Then roll down to the "Customize" Command. Are you not seeing this?daniel1962 wrote:I do not see a 'customize dialogue' box though.
